Objective
Seeking a challenging career in design and development of software using Java, C++, and C programming languages.
Summary
I have about three (2 years in C++ and 1 year in Java) years of industry experience in design, development and maintenance of application software. I have a good understanding of Object Oriented Software Development and Multi-tier Architecture. My recent experience was developing Wireless Application software for wireless devices/PDA using WAP technology. I have the knowledge of IPC and network protocols like HTTP, TCP and UDP.
Education
· M.S. in Computer Science, University of Alabama in Huntsville, USA, December 1995 (GPA: 3.66/4).
· Diploma in Systems Management, National Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar, India, July 1992.
· B.S. in Physics, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, India, July 1990.
Visa Status
Permanent Resident.
Relevant Experience and Major Accomplishments
Idini Corporation, San Jose, California, October 2000 to May 2001.
Software Engineer, Application Group
· Was responsible for the design, development and maintenance of a Wireless Application Software Mobile Desktop (MD). MD is an integrated suite of services those enables mobile professionals to have wireless access to any kind of information from any wireless device. With MD, anybody can read email, send faxes, access file attachments and launch desktop applications from any Web-enabled phone or PDA. The contents of the file can be both edited and viewed in multiple formats such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, as well as PDF, GIF, JPEG and others too enabling immediate access to a broad range of information. Coding was done purely in Java and used most of the Java related technologies.
· Was responsible for the design, development and maintenance of another product Mobile Exchange Service (MES), which enables secure wireless access to MS Exchange Information residing on the corporate networks. With MES, employees can have real time access to personal and corporate address books, review and edit calendar, notes and tasks, and send and receive email. Basically, this product performs all of the standard functions of MS Outlook. Although, MES is a stand-alone product, it can be offered as an extension to the existing Mobile Desktop (MD) Software. Coding was done purely in Java and used some of CDO programming.
Knowledge Based Systems, Inc., College Station, Texas, January 1996 to March 1998.
Programmer Analyst, Commercial Modeling Tools Development Team
· Was responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the IDEF3-based commercial CASE Tools ProSim (Process Modeling and Simulation Support) and ProCap (Process Capture). These tools are used to visually capture enterprise process knowledge or workflow. They specify user roles, process sequencing, timing, resource, and information object flows. Coding was done purely in C++ and used some Windows Programming.
· Was responsible for design and development of IDEF1/1X-based commercial CASE Tool SmartER (Information and Data Modeling Tool). Coding was done purely in C++ and used some Windows Programming.
· Was responsible for development of ProSys, an automated code generation tool for 3-tier client-server model. ProSys integrates ProSim, and SmartER with an expert system that converts ProSim and SmartER models into client-server application software in Microsoft Visual Basic®. Three layers involved are being Database Layer which reuses SmartER, Object/Enterprise layer, in which Visual Basic® code will be compiled into COM objects, uses DAO (data access objects) or ODBC to access database, Client Layer is the Microsoft Visual Basic® that automatically use the object layer.
IntraCorp. Inc, College Station, Texas, November 1995 to December 1995.
Programmer Analyst, Game Development Division
· Worked as a member of a game development team and was responsible for developing different GUI and multimedia applications for games on DOS platform. Wrote many game library functions in C.
Academic Projects
Implementation Efforts:
· Calculator Program in Java - wrote a calculator applet with basic arithmetic and trigonometric operations using AWT components.
· Pattern Design Program in OpenGL environment - create patterns of symmetric polygonal shapes on entire screen when user draws just one polygon anywhere on the screen, allows user to change shape of whole pattern interactively by changing only one polygon.
· Graphics Editor in C using Motif, Xt and Xlib - draws different geometric objects like lines, rectangles, ellipses (or circles). It is capable of moving, copying, and deleting simple objects, storing the screen into a file in a simple format, and loading the file back onto the screen.
· Interprocess Communication in C for the Unix system - using Shared Memory, FIFO, PIPE, and Memory Mapped IO.
Design Efforts:
· Object Oriented Modeling of an Airline Reservation System - using Rumbaugh's Object Modeling Technique (OMT).
· Compiler for Pascal-like language - using Lex and YACC embedded in C.
Simulation Efforts:
· Round Robin Process Scheduler in C on the Unix system.
· Unix file system using i-node and a noncontiguous file allocation scheme in C.
Computer Skills
· Systems: VAX/Unix, SUN systems, IBM PC/XT/AT
· Languages and Programming Tools: Proficient in Java, C++, C, XML, XSL, CDO, knowledge of Perl, JavaScript & Html, BASIC, PASCAL, COBOL, PROLOG, ADA, and LISP, dbx, make, Lex, Yacc
· Operating Systems: Unix (SUN OS4, SUN OS5, SUN Solaris), MS-DOS 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT
· Database Languages: SQL, POSTQUEL, and dBase III+
· Software: Visual Café, Jdk1.3, AWT, SWING, OpenGL, Glut, SRGP, Motif, X-Windows (Xlib), Xt, Visual C++, MFC, Borland C++, OWL, and Windows Programming (SDK)
