Cellular Service Providers often face a major challenge of efficiently managing the increasing SMS traffic and applications. Further, exposing the SMS center connectivity to the applications poses a major risk is an overhead for the management.
From the application development perspective, developing an application for sending/receiving SMS messages requires interfacing using different protocols to SMS center/mobile devices. It also requires handling the synchronization of the incoming and outgoing volume of message traffic.
