posted by WDN (editor@wirelessdevnet.com), April 09, 2003
Mobile QuickStart™ provides out-of-the-box mobile asset management and regulatory compliance applications for
pilot implementations
Arlington, Va. - April 7, 2003 - Telispark, a leading provider of enterprise mobility applications (EMA), today announced the availability of
Mobile QuickStart™, an out-of-the-box mobility solution designed to help utility and energy companies rapidly implement entry-level asset
inspection and maintenance solutions. During the client engagement, HP Services plans to help Mobile QuickStart customers formulate return
on investment for mobile deployments. In addition, HP plans to help customers evaluate the impact mobility has on regulatory compliance
efforts and the tracking, servicing and utilization of assets.
Mobile QuickStart™ field service and asset management solutions demonstrate, within a small-user group, the effects enterprise-wide
deployment will have on increasing operational efficiency by:
- Improving data integrity and reducing field technician workloads;
- Eliminating error-prone, paper-based administrative processes in tracking, servicing and maintaining assets; and,
- Enabling field technicians to perform day-to-day operations, access and update inspection and maintenance data from a handheld and then
communicate the information back to the enterprise.
“Companies in the utility and energy sectors stand to benefit greatly from highly functional mobile field service and asset management
deployments that embody their vertical-specific business processes,” said Randy Brouckman, CEO and President of Telispark. “We are
pleased that the Mobile QuickStart program, developed with HP, will help those companies experience rapid ROI through increased
operational efficiency and enhanced asset utilization that enterprise mobility applications offer.”
“The majority of enterprises in the utility and energy sectors select to pilot first in order to strengthen their business case and validate ROI
formulations for future enterprise-wide deployments,” said Bill Lewis, Director, Global Energy-Utilities. “HP is pleased to be working with
Telispark to deliver an offering that combines packaged delivery and open, standards-based technology with an in-depth knowledge of the
mobile business processes for the energy and utility sectors.”
Out-of-the-box, Mobile QuickStart delivers the technology, services and packaged applications needed to implement a 10-user inspection
and asset management solution. Mobile QuickStart customers also benefit from cost incentives if they choose to upgrade the number of users
after their pilot project is deployed.
Mobile QuickStart customers receive:
- Ruggedized, Pocket PC devices;
- Telispark Mobile Enterprise™ asset inspection and maintenance applications;
- Server-side, J2EE-compliant run time environment;
- Mobile Business Process Assessment from HP Consulting and Integration Services;
- Windows 2000 server box; and
