go2 Systems Acquires go2.com Domain Name
URL(s): www.go2online.com
IRVINE, Calif., Apr 20, 2001 - go2 Systems Inc., the world's first wireless location-based directory and information services platform, announced today an
agreement to acquire the domain name go2.com from GoTo.com, the leading provider of Pay-For-Performance(TM) services to Web sites across the Internet.
GoTo.com previously announced the intent to change its name as one of the final steps in communicating its position as a provider of services to Web sites and companies
doing business online, rather than a consumer destination site.
"We are pleased to be acquiring the go2.com domain name at this time," said go2 Systems president and CEO, Lee Hancock.
go2 is designed to help consumers save time and money by leveraging the power of the Internet through mobile devices. go2's award-winning suite of location-based directory
products and information services, including addresses, turn-by-turn directions and one-click calling, is available online and through Web-enabled cell phones, PDAs (personal
digital assistants) and pagers, and is featured on virtually all major North American carriers including AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Cingular and Nextel. go2 enables users of
Web-enabled devices to find the stores, products, brands and services closest to them, no matter where they are.
A privately held company based in Irvine, go2(R) launched the first location-based directory available over the wireless Web in December 1999 and today is the most widely
distributed location-based directory and information services provider for users of Web-enabled wireless devices.
The company's patented location referencing technology supports go2's ability to provide location-based information for more than 16 million real-world locations in the United
States and serves as a cross-platform location interface with all Web-enabled wireless systems, applications and devices, including cell phones, PDAs and pagers. go2
facilitates navigation and commerce by allowing users to save time and money by finding the closest products and services, wherever they are.
