XandMail Announces More Powerful XUbiMail Functionality

PARIS, April 19, 2001--
XUbiMail's V2.4 Expanded Functionality Gives Administrators and End-Users Unprecedented Messaging
Application Customization
XandMail, a global supplier of carrier-class 3G messaging solutions with an installed base of 30 million licenses
worldwide, announces new XUbiMail V2.4 functionality.
XUbiMail, a front-end HTTP mail engine for large communities, provides Web, WAP, iMode, PDA, Web TV,
and any other browser-enabled device e-mail access.
The new XUbiMail V2.4 brings to both administrators and end-users extended control and customization
options. New functionalities include "behind-the-scenes" features and options, such as socket buffer length control,
improved browser detection. Users will appreciate the improved embedded previous login session details, multiple
user profile management and editing, multi-lingual UTF-7B protocol support, URL management, multi-field LDAP
search engine, in-line images display, pre-defined message (PDM) ability and improved security with post-logout
reload protection.
The "behind-the-scenes" improvements offer several advantages. The administrator has the control of the socket
buffer length and can specify the size of the TCP packet, allowing XUbiMail to be configured as efficiently as
possible for the system hardware. An improved browser detection module allows XUbiMail to choose the
template specialized for the browser being used to access the account.
The detail page, beyond showing the last connection date and a reminder of the user's e-mail address, informs
the user of the mailbox load status. XUbiMail V2.4 provides a profile manager to organize, delete, and edit the
profiles. XUbiMail V2.4 uses UTF-7B protocol to support any character set (Chinese, French, English...) for use
in the naming of folders when using an IMAP4 server. Text hyperlinks may be included in the text body of
messages using common hyperlink prefixes. These links open a browser window to the specified URL address.
XUbiMail also recognizes mailto: as a hyperlink, and opens a XUbiMail compose window with the recipient field
completed according to the information in the link, instead of launching the default e-mail client application.
XUbiMail V2.4 can search LDAP databases based on name, e-mail address, company phone, personal phone
number, mobile phone number, and pager number. Users may create and store multiple profiles. With the image
option, users may choose as a preference to show attached images in the same field as the message body, after the
message text. The pre-defined messages (PDM) ability enables users to pre-enter messages to be used for short
keying on their WAP or iMode access sessions. The reload protection has been implemented to increase security
measures by preventing user information to reload upon refreshing from being displayed after logging out.
For XandMail, detailed functionality coding is time consuming but as important as platform development, that is
why over ten developed and improved features were implemented in the XUbiMail 2.4 version to reach and meet
high client standards, answering better clients and end-users' expectations and needs.
Xavier Ly, VP Engineering, adds, "The XUbiMail V2.4 objective was to focus on detailed functionality
developments and improvements taking place both behind the scenes and visible user features. The implemented
functionality bring XandMail's XUbiMail messaging application one step further to a higher quality product standard
on the market."
