pulver.com Study Finds Sprint PCS Most Likely to Meet E911 Deployment Deadline
URL(s): pulver.com
MELVILLE, N.Y., April 26, 2001--pulver.com announced today the release of the Special Report on
Prospects for E911 Phase II Services in the USA. The report examines the major US wireless carriers' progress in deploying
phase II E911 (Enhanced 911) service. Sprint PCS (NYSE: PCS) appears in the best position of the five largest US national
wireless carriers to comply with the October 1, 2001 deadline and accuracy requirements set by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC). The report also assesses progress of AT&T Wireless (NYSE: AWE), Cingular Wireless (NYSE: SBC),
Nextel Communications (NASDAQ: NXTL), and Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) in complying with the FCC's E911 mandate.
"This study paints a great picture of where the big carriers currently are on E911 rollout," said Jeff Pulver, the CEO and
President of pulver.com. "In addition," notes Pulver, "a fleshed-out E911 infrastructure will open the door for new and exciting
location based services and applications that will offer new additional sources of revenue to the carriers. From facilitating personal
navigation to finding lost children, the new technology has plenty of wonderful and worthwhile applications that stand to benefit
consumers and communities. I should hope that the fact that one or more of the nation's largest wireless carriers is on track for
deployment will encourage those carriers' competitors to play catch-up in delivering accurate and timely E911 services to their
wireless phone customers."
The Special Report on Prospects for E911 Phase II Services in the USA is now available at slides.pulver.com and also will be
included in the May 2001 Location Based Services Report. Subscription to the pulver.com Location Based Services monthly
reports is provided free of charge at www.pulver.com/lbsreport/subscribe.html.
In addition, the issues and concerns described in this report, as well as other timely location topics, will be addressed by the
leading experts in the field at the Spring 2001 Location Based Services Summit in Boston on May 21-22, 2001. More details on
the Summit are available at www.pulver.com/lbs.
