Profilium Selects IBM for Location-based Wireless Advertising Platform
TORONTO AND MONTREAL - Profilium
announced they
have selected IBM Canada Ltd. to provide the hardware
infrastructure for
their wireless location-based content delivery platform.
The Profilium Location-based Services (LBS) platform
provides a unique
opportunity for advertisers to reach mobile subscribers with
relevant time and
location-specific messages, on an opt-in basis. The offering
enables consumers
to receive personalized offers based on their profile or
preference; merchants
to target a qualified and highly customized audience; and
carriers to access
an array of new services and revenue streams.
Installed within the carrier's network, the Profilium
LBS platform
enables a range of predictive 'push' services, based on
dynamic triggers such
as time, location, habits, and user preferences. The
platform also provides an
advanced level of user privacy protection through a 'double
blind' privacy
shield that mediates information between advertisers and
carriers.
"As a leading edge technology company in such a high
visibility space,
getting our platform up, running and out to market quickly
is our number one
priority," said Dr. Alex Miller, Chief Technology Officer at
Profilium. "It's
exciting to work with IBM, as they recognize both the
significance of this
technology for the telecommunications industry and the
time-to-market
pressures involved."
"Wireless computing is a strong growth area for IBM, and
Linux is a key
element of IBM's business strategy," said Stephane Boisvert,
head of IBM
Canada's Net Generation Business unit. "Profilium is active
in both of these
key areas, and we are pleased to work together as they build
their Linux-based
wireless advertising infrastructure using IBM technology and
the Quick Launch
program."
The platform is powered by a combination of Linux OS
software and IBM
hardware, including the xSeries servers. Once deployed, the
technology will
enable carriers to provide enhanced wireless services and
establish new
revenue streams on existing infrastructure and stimulate
demand for advanced
3rd generation (3G) telecommunications.
Delivered exclusively through IBM Business Partners,
Quick Launch is
