Wireless Users Can Now Easily Access Websites on a Mobile Phone Keypad With JmpAT

URL(s): emediacyinc.com

SAN DIEGO -- Using a mobile phone to access the Internet has just become a whole lot easier. With JmpAT (pronounced JUMP-AT), users enter the first few letters of a company's name, website or business category to access the site. JmpAT.com, a new service of eMediacy, Inc., is available today on millions of wireless devices worldwide.

JmpAT provides a simple solution to a critical problem. "Trying to use a cellular phone's 10-digit keypad to enter a website name is a nightmare of keystrokes, symbols and frustration," said Sanford P. Weisman, eMediacy's President and CEO. "With JmpAT, users can access sites in a common-sense way, by entering the first few letters of the name they associate with the company."

For example, users entering the wireless version of the Barnes and Noble Books site, "mobile.bn.com," would have required about 26 keystrokes on a cellular phone. With JmpAT, typing the digits corresponding to "bn" (2-6), "Barn" (2-2-7-6), or even "book" (2-6-6-5) would allow you to access the site. To access United Airlines, users can type in "UA" (8-2), "UAL" (8-2-5) or "UNI" (8-6-4).

"Users will be able to 'jump at' most websites with 5 keystrokes or less, without having to memorize anything," said Nigel Waites, eMediacy's Chief Technology Officer. "And JmpAT is easy to find as well. In most cases, you simply go to the 'enter site' selection on your browser and enter 5-6-7-2-8 in either alpha or numeric mode."

JmpAT is a complete site management interface. In addition to rapidly finding websites, JmpAT automatically displays the last eight (8) websites visited and allows users to easily list and access their favorite sites.

JmpAT is compatible with any Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) compatible device, including cellular phones on the Sprint PCS, Verizon, Cingular, AT&T and Nextel networks, providing access to millions of potential users. Over 100 of the most popular WAP sites, including Microsoft, Amazon.com, Yahoo, and AOL-Time Warner are already registered with JmpAT, representing the vast majority of all wireless Internet page views.

Site owners can control the amount of visibility their site receives, with registration fees starting at $50.00 a year. "The challenging process of entering mobile URL's has forced site owners into expensive and sometimes exclusive deals with carriers in order to have their sites listed on a carrier's home page," said Weisman. "Users see a small selection of sites, with the rest of the mobile Internet out of reach. JmpAT removes this artificial barrier to mobile Internet usage by providing site owners access to users at a price any site can afford." Registration is handled through a simple, secure, process on the jmpat.com website.

More information regarding JmpAT and eMediacy, Inc. is available on their respective websites, jmpat.com and emediacyinc.com.

Founded by wireless industry veterans, eMediacy's mission is to help people find, communicate and transact with each other in the communications age. The company's patent-pending e-communications infrastructure technologies will be integrated in a wide variety of applications from industry-leading firms, including next-generation search engines, directories, contact management and unified communications. eMediacy, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in San Diego, CA.
