BlueTie Launches BlueTie Wireless For Mobile Users
URL(s): www.bluetie.com
ROCHESTER, N.Y, April 30, 2001--
Application Service Provider and Independent Software Vendor Builds
On the Seamless Extensibility of Its Offering
With Complete Wireless Access for Any BlueTie User
From Any Palm, HandSpring, or Palm OS Device.
BlueTie (www.bluetie.com), the company that enables small and mid-sized businesses to have an integrated suite of
Internet-based, big business applications, announced today that millions of Palm and HandSpring users can now access BlueTie
from their wireless devices anywhere in the United States.
The new offering is part of BlueTie Wireless, which extends the power of BlueTie to wireless devices and enables
businesspeople to have real time access to data from anywhere, anytime, from any device with Internet access. Blue Tie is the
only company offering real time access from multiple platforms. Wireless is available at no charge to any BlueTie member with a
wireless-enabled Palm OS-based device.
The ability for BlueTie users to now access their information directly from their Palm OS devices means no more slow and
inaccurate synchronization. A salesperson traveling in Boston can check his/her calendar, add a new appointment or send an
email directly from his/her Palm. When he/she arrives back in San Francisco all the work is accessible from any computer with
Internet access and a browser. The sales manager also can access the new sales opportunity in real time from anywhere in the
country.
"BlueTie Wireless solidifies BlueTie's position as the market leader in providing Internet-based Connected Officing services to
small and mid-sized businesses," said David Koretz, President and CEO. "We have built a Connected Officing platform that is
extensible to not only computers, but now wireless devices as well. The development of BlueTie Wireless was driven by our
customers' demand for anytime, anywhere access to their critical business information."
BlueTie Wireless for the Palm gives users email, calendar, contact manager, blueCards, task list and My Day in one single
application suite. The applications look and feel like BlueTie.com applications, which makes it easy for users to switch between
desktop and mobile platforms.
The BlueTie solution for Palm users is a small application named a "Palm Query Application" or PQA. The PQA application
is a small file that users can download and import directly into their Palm OS device. Users with wireless modems or the Palm
7X with built-in Internet access can easily access BlueTie by simply clicking on the BlueTie icon on their main screen. For more
information on this breakthrough application, go to: www.bluetie.com.
According to The Yankee Group, worldwide, there are already twice as many mobile devices as PCs and this multiple will
increase to three by 2002, making mobiles compelling platforms for anytime, anywhere, any device transaction and information
access. In addition, Jupiter Communications estimates that the number of mobile Internet users will reach 191 million by 2005.
BlueTie's suite of Internet-based applications provides companies with business-critical technology without the problems and
costs associated with purchasing, maintaining and updating large client-server software and hardware. These powerful
applications are available to customers with only a web browser or a Palm OS-based PDA and Internet access.
With headquarters in Rochester, New York, BlueTie is a privately held company whose mission is to provide small- and
mid-sized businesses with the richest and easiest-to-use Web-based business applications. Founded in March 1999, the
company enables all businesses to have big business applications without the cost, complexity or confusion of traditional
software. With BlueTie, your office is wherever and whenever you are. More information on BlueTie can be found at:
