Simplylook Launches Wireless Web Imaging Technology for J2ME Handsets

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 17, 2001-- Simplylook Inc. Announces Launch of Mobile Image(TM) 2.0 -- Its Breakthrough Image Serving Software Compatible With J2ME Promising 3G Experiences on 2G Networks.

In an effort to provide a significantly better wireless experience, Simplylook has launched Mobile Image(TM) 2.0 -- software for serving optimized interactive images to wireless devices, including cutting-edge J2ME handsets.

The software is ideal for serving photographs, maps, stock charts, drawings, and for viewing e-mails, attachments, presentations, word documents, and database applications. The wireless consumer can interact with the image by zooming in/out, panning, and accessing additional information linked to the image. Mobile Image(TM) is the entry-stage product for the Java(TM)-based suite of server and client products Simplylook is developing for the wireless Web.

The Mobile Image(TM) software is based on patent-pending technology. The capabilities of the core server platform include:

-- Dynamic Generation -- determines the characteristics (display size, color, depth, memory) of the requesting wireless device and generates the image real time to maximize the image quality given these device characteristics.

-- Consumer Focused Content -- the consumers receive the content they want based on their preferences, location and time.

-- Interactive Images -- supported by intelligently streaming only the required data for the viewing area requested by the user.

-- Server Side Solution (no client plug-in) -- ideal for cell phones and PDAs with limited computing capabilities.

-- Server Platform Independent -- data agnostic making it OS and platform independent. Works with any wireless platform (iMode, WAP, Palm OS).

"Just like wired Internet usage exploded when interactive graphics became an inherent part of browsing, we believe that wireless Internet usage will grow exponentially with the ability to experience interactive images using Mobile Image(TM)," said Dr. Rajit Gadh, founder of Simplylook. "And since our product now supports J2ME handsets, we can provide a 3G user experience on a 2G network."

Simplylook has just added NEC and SKnow, to its growing list of customers.

"SKnow is incorporating the Mobile Image(TM) server on Bluetooth," said Ajit Jaokar, CEO of SKnow Ltd. "From our discussions with prospective customers, we have received a very positive response to Simplylook's unique interface and see Mobile Image(TM) as an integral part of our offering."

Mobile Image(TM) is also being evaluated by major Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric, NTT Data, Siemens, Samsung, United Technologies, Telecom Italia and South Korea Telecom.

Simplylook, based in San Jose, Calif., provides software products and consulting services for real-time optimizing and intelligently caching/streaming interactive images to wireless devices. Simplylook's server-side solution makes it ideal for wireless phones, PDAs and smart clients. Simplylook has been written up in more than 30 publications including ZDNet, Yahoo Finance, C/Net, Harvard Business School Report for Northern California, Times of India and Red Herring.
