SAN DIEGO & PALO ALTO, Calif.--Jan. 17, 2001--Wireless Knowledge, Inc., a Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq:MSFT) and QUALCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq:QCOM) company, today announced a strategic marketing agreement with OmniSky (Nasdaq:OMNY), the award-winning provider of branded wireless e-mail and Internet services for users of handheld devices, that bridges the gap between mobile professionals and their corporate data.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wireless Knowledge will promote OmniSky's wireless e-mail and Internet service to its enterprise customers. In addition, OmniSky will market Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle(TM) Server to its enterprise customers, who can deploy Workstyle to allow employees to securely access critical enterprise information, such as e-mail, calendar and contacts over OmniSky-enabled handheld devices.
"Access to corporate e-mail is one of our customers' most critical requirements," said Kristine Stebbins, vice president of marketing at OmniSky. "To give a complete range of access to corporate e-mail, OmniSky provides solutions for mobile professionals who use Microsoft Outlook and now to enterprises. Workstyle Server's support for Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino, together with its superior security features, creates the perfect choice for users who are looking to easily access and manage their corporate data through their OmniSky wirelessly-enabled handheld device."
"OmniSky is an ideal partner for us," said Peggy Biddison, vice president and chief marketing officer, Wireless Knowledge. "Their commitment to serve the mobile professional, together with our focus on wirelessly enabling the enterprise, creates a compelling offering. With Workstyle Server, OmniSky is now able to provide a comprehensive, end-to-end solution for companies looking for secure, server-based, wireless corporate e-mail solutions. Our applications, and their suite of services -- it's ideal."
In addition to accessing corporate e-mail, contacts and calendar information through Workstyle, OmniSky subscribers have access to all of the other OmniSky features -- personal POP3 e-mail accounts, instant messaging, a rich set of optimized content organized into an intuitive portal, the ability to search and surf the Web, and a directory that lets users save information directly to their contacts application with a single tap.
"This is truly a win win -- not only for both parties, but for the mobile professional as well," said Biddison. "And this is only the first step in what we expect will be quite a robust partnership."
Wireless Knowledge and OmniSky have committed to a series of joint marketing activities such as partner programs and web marketing. In addition, the two companies will cross-market their respective offerings to current and prospective customers. The companies also agreed to collaborate on the development of next-generation wireless solutions to enterprise customers.
