Cambridge VoiceTech Releases Windows Development Environment for VoiceXML

RESTON, Va., July 2, 2001--Cambridge VoiceTech, the technology leader in VoiceXML tools and
solutions, today released a complete Windows desktop development environment for VoiceXML, the language that is fast
becoming the industry standard for the new generation of advanced speech recognition applications.
"We believe we've built the most comprehensive VoiceXML development tool available on the market," said Chief
Technology Officer Lou Abbruzzesi. "To have a complete VoiceXML development toolkit for the Windows desktop
represents a milestone not just for us, but for the speech application development community as a whole."
A free downloadable evaluation version of the company's product, Cambridge Voice Studio, is available on the World Wide
Web at www.cambridgevoice.com.
"Cambridge Voice Studio enables developers to deliver advanced speech recognition solutions to end users in as little as four
to six weeks, rather than the current standard time of four to six months or longer," Abbruzzesi said.
The downloadable evaluation version of Cambridge Voice Studio integrates Microsoft's Text-to-Speech capability, allowing
programmers to develop full-scale voice applications on their Windows NT desktops/laptops. These programs can then be
ported to an enterprise telephony environment using the company's VoiceXML engine, Cambridge Voice Gateway.
Cambridge Voice Gateway technology won best of show in March at the CTExpo 2001 in Los Angeles (under the
company's former name, iAmigo Corporation).
"Our VoiceXML implementation is completely hardware- and speech engine-agnostic and strongly complies with the
VoiceXML 1.0 standard," said Abbruzzesi. "In addition, we have developed a very powerful, proprietary scripting language
that allows you to integrate other systems easily from within the VoiceXML document.
"This is a truly usable, functional realization of the VoiceXML idea," he said.
In addition to providing tools for developers, Cambridge VoiceTech offers full-scale voice automation for call centers and
other enterprise functions. Cambridge VoiceTech technology enables call centers to reduce their basic cost of operations by 30
percent or more.
"Our technological lead gives us a real advantage in developing end-user applications for call centers and enterprises," said
Abbruzzesi. "Having built the underlying tools, we can craft very efficient, modular solutions."
Abbruzzesi, who spent years as a developer of traditional "touch-tone" call center applications, says his team of developers
combines traditional telephony experience with fresh, cutting-edge expertise in the new VoiceXML/speech recognition
environment.
Based in Reston, Virginia, Cambridge VoiceTech is a partner of the two major speech engine providers, Nuance and
SpeechWorks. In addition, the company partners with computer telephony vendors Brooktrout, Dialogic, and Velocite.
Cambridge VoiceTech, the technology leader in VoiceXML, provides best-of-breed VoiceXML tools for voice application
developers as well as complete call center/voice automation solutions and voice-driven customer relations management/sales
force automation. The company is the maker of Cambridge Voice Studio, the leading Windows desktop development
environment for VoiceXML.
Cambridge VoiceTech's award-winning VoiceXML implementation combines strong VoiceXML 1.0 compliance with a
powerful proprietary scripting language that greatly accelerates voice application development.
Cambridge Voice Studio shortens development for sophisticated speech recognition and voice automation applications from
standard times of four to six months to as little as four to six weeks.
With its highly sophisticated VoiceXML toolkit and extensive experience in commercial computer telephony, the company is
well-positioned to play a dominant role in the rapidly expanding speech technology and application market, expected by
analysts to grow to $16.3 billion worldwide over the next four years.
