WILSONVILLE, Ore., July 3, 2001--Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) today announced that the Siemens Information and Communication Mobile (ICM) group in Italy, a business area of Siemens ICN SpA, has adopted HDL Designer Series(TM) for use in the development of its mobile communication solutions.

HDL Designer Series will provide Siemens with design capture, analysis and management capabilities for the front-end design of ASICs and FPGAs used in mobile communication networks.

HDL Designer Series can effectively handle Siemens' next generation designs in both HDL source code and graphical representations, and supports team design. Siemens ICM group in Italy will use HDL Designer Series in the front-end design of its Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), Global Packet Radio Services (GPRS) and next generation mobile network technologies.

"For our next-generation ASIC and FPGA designs, we need a solution for team design to accelerate HDL education for our designers," said Giuseppe Fazzini, director of Hardware Design Technologies department, Siemens ICM in Italy. "We chose HDL Designer Series for its ability to handle all aspects of our HDL design process easily, including its tight integration with ModelSim(R) for simulation."

"HDL Designer Series offers companies a complete design management solution that accommodates virtually any style of HDL design," said Valerie Rachko, director of marketing for HDL Designer Series. "Designers and teams using this solution will find an efficient, easy-to-use tool that helps them meet their time-to-market-demands."

With its point tools, including HDL Pilot(TM) for design management; HDL Detective(TM) for design analysis and documentation; HDL Author(TM) for text or graphical editing; and HDL Designer(TM) for complete point tool functionality in a single solution, HDL Designer Series covers all aspects of the design entry and management process. In addition, HDL Designer Series accommodates a team member's design preference without compromising the ability to monitor and manage data in a common environment.
