NetMotion Mobility 3.0 Beta Extends Continuous Wireless Connections To Windows 2000
SEATTLE, July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- NetMotion(TM) Wireless Inc. today
announced the availability of NetMotion Mobility 3.0 beta software and an open beta test program. NetMotion Mobility 3.0 includes support for the Microsoft
Windows 2000 operating system, considered the platform of choice for
enterprise servers and mobile computers. NetMotion Mobility is a unique
wireless solution that provides a secure and continuous connection to
enterprise LANs and WANs.
Any enterprise using Windows-based platforms can deploy NetMotion Mobility
3.0 to increase the stability and security of its wireless network. NetMotion
Mobility is client-server software that makes wireless networks operate as
effectively as wired networks do -- without interruption and with secure
access to the same data and applications that are on office PCs. IT
departments can deploy NetMotion Mobility 3.0 easily in less than an hour.
"NetMotion is focused on the wireless user who needs to do a lot more than
just instant messaging or e-mail," said Shelly Julien, vice president of
marketing at NetMotion Wireless. "NetMotion is for the enterprise using
network-dependent applications in a wireless environment."
Already a recognized leader in the wireless market, NetMotion Mobility 2.1
won the Best of Show Award in the Network Security category at
NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas 2001. Investors also recognize the value of
NetMotion solutions. Despite a dismal investment climate for high-tech
startups, in March, NetMotion received over $8 million in financing from
venture capital firms including SeaPoint Ventures and Northwest Venture
Associates.
Support for the Latest Client and Server Platforms
NetMotion Mobility 3.0 now covers the most widely used enterprise server
platforms -- Windows 2000 and Windows NT.
On the client side, NetMotion Mobility 3.0 adds support for portable
computers running Windows 2000 to previously existing support for Windows
95/98 and for portable devices such as the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC, HP Jornada
700 Series Handheld PC, Intermec 5020 Data Collection PC and others running
Windows CE 2.11, 2.12, 3.0 (H/PC 2000), and Pocket PC.
NetMotion plans to continue adding support for all broadly used computing
platforms on both client and server sides with new releases.
"We added support for Windows 2000 with the release of NetMotion Mobility
3.0 in response to the market," Julien said. "Corporate deployment of Windows
2000 on mobile, wireless desktops is accelerating in the second half of 2001.
NetMotion will continue to expand operating system support for
enterprise-server, mobile-desktop and wireless-device platforms."
