BOISE, Idaho & SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 25, 2001-- Wireless Knowledge, Inc., a Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT) and QUALCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq:QCOM) company and market leader in delivering enterprise-grade mobile-business solutions, and Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND), a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, today announced plans to collaborate on next-generation wireless solutions, such as 3G (third-generation) technology.

Under the terms of the agreement, Wireless Knowledge and Extended Systems will cross-license certain mobile application technologies to develop best-of-breed, next-generation software components. "Enterprise customers already benefiting from mobile business solutions understand the value of mobility," said Ken Whitaker, vice president of product development for Wireless Knowledge.

"Collaborating with Extended Systems -- a fellow leader in the wireless space -- allows us to leverage each other's resources and co-develop revolutionary technologies for next-generation networks and infrastructures that ultimately will create a new paradigm for pervasive computing and even more value for the enterprise."

"Early adopter customers are looking to market leaders to guide them through the transition to 3G," said Holmes Lundt, co-founder and vice president of business development for Extended Systems. "More evident than ever is a growing need for a variety of mobile business solutions that are not only available today, but will be ready as new networks emerge.
