PowerLOC Utilizes Cellemetry Network for Asset Location Tracking in North America

URL(s): Numerex  Cellemetry

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2001--Numerex Corp. (NASDAQ: NMRX), today announced an agreement with PowerLOC Technologies, Inc, a subsidiary of Paradigm Advanced Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: PRAV) to utilize the Cellemetry wireless data network for vehicle location and medically related personal location applications.

PowerLOC products are designed to pinpoint the location of fixed and mobile assets globally. Vehicles equipped with PowerLOC's L-Biz(TM) devices, such as cars, trucks, taxis or transit vehicles, and construction equipment, will issue an alarm within 4 seconds after leaving their designated area or route. Each device includes load-balancing firmware for efficient cost-effective network operation. E-911 type options are now extended beyond cell phone coverage through additional panic or emergency buttons installed in the vehicle for 99.9% accuracy. Customer privacy is assured through the use of client software where clearly defined business and family rules can be applied and stored for additional functionality.

"PowerLOC and their location applications are welcomed additions to the Cellemetry network," said Geoff Girdler, EVP and head of the Numerex wireless communications group. "As Numerex continues to expand its available coverage, so too will the options for PowerLOC and their customers."

"The combination of PowerLOC applications delivered through its L-Biz(TM) LSP (Location Service Provider) service provider channels, and the Cellemetry network presents transportation companies and consumers with a powerful tool for tracking, locating, and navigating," said Cheryl Advocate, PowerLOC, Director Business Development. "The Cellemetry network enables our devices to roam seamlessly throughout Canada, the United States and Mexico on the 'PowerLOC Zero1 Plan' for consumers and business alike offering instant security and peace of mind by ensuring coverage to locate the tracking device."

Cellemetry provides two-way, wireless data connectivity for a variety of machine-to-machine communications that remotely monitor, measure, or track fixed and mobile assets. The Cellemetry patented technology has been licensed to strategic partners and application developers providing a broad range of solutions widely available across North America and is initiating expansion in South America.

PowerLOC is a subsidiary of Paradigm Advanced Technologies, Inc. (www.PowerLOC.com) an emerging leader in the design and development of wireless Internet-enabled tracking and locating systems. Headquartered in Toronto, PowerLOC provides wireless location-based electronic-commerce (L-Commerce) solutions. Paradigm owns the exclusive licensing rights to a broad-based wireless location patent (US Patent no. B1 5,043,736) covering the apparatus and method of transmitting position information from satellite navigational signals (like GPS) over cellular systems to a base unit, and displaying the location of a person or object so equipped. Paradigm licenses its patents through PowerLOC. Together the patents and leading mobile commerce technologies are re-licensed to Location Service Providers (LSPs [TM]) such as wireless carriers, ASPs, Call Center, Service Bureaus, Security Monitoring Stations, Large Enterprise, and Automobile Towing Service Providers. PowerLOC also manufactures Vehicle Location Devices, Personal Location Devices, Asset Location Devices, and Destinator(TM) a leader in PDA based mobile navigation tools available through name brand retail channels.
