Motorola's Multiservice Networks Division Announces SafeWatch
URL(s): www.motorola.com/networking
MANSFIELD, Mass., Aug. 7, 2001--Motorola Inc.'s (NYSE: MOT) Multiservice Networks Division
(MND), a leading source of managed network solutions for the enterprise, today announced its latest offering, SafeWatch. Designed
specifically to help improve school safety, SafeWatch provides public safety officials with a valuable tool to help assess and react to
emergency situations. As is the case with all of MND's offerings, SafeWatch combines the design, integration and management of the
systems and services required, making a difference in the public safety market.
SafeWatch is a complete real-time video monitoring system, allowing public safety officials, in the event of an emergency, to remotely
activate cameras located in the public areas of a school. The images can be viewed and the cameras can be controlled from a public
safety facility or vehicle. This provides public safety officials with a real-time view of the affected area and allows them to make informed
decisions on how to address an emergency situation.
SafeWatch is the first integrated package that allows users to securely access, monitor and control digital video - whether in real-time
or archived, onsite or remote, from single or multiple locations - using the Internet Explorer(R) Web browser. By combining the
RemoteVU Guardian IP Video Transmitter (see RemoteVU Guardian release dated 8/7/01), VOIP capabilities, telephones, and
wireless networking hardware over a managed IP network, SafeWatch will help security professionals enhance the service they provide
their clients and communities.
"Traditional security companies have been supplying pieces to the puzzle," said Ray Patalano, public safety offering manager at MND.
"SafeWatch puts together all of the components requested by our customers. Because we have a long history of networking expertise,
we can integrate the pieces in a managed package that is unlike anything else available today."
To meet the needs of public safety and security professionals, MND has tapped into its proven experience and market knowledge. By
having access to leading-edge technology and integration and management capabilities, MND brings real benefits to its customers.
"Keeping our kids and communities safe is our number one concern," said Tewksbury, MA Police Chief John Mackey. "Taking
advantage of the latest and greatest technology helps us improve the level of service we deliver. MND's SafeWatch has our technology
needs covered, which gives us the ability to stay focused on our jobs."
