Support for Symbian platform added to MULTILIZER® Developer Edition TM 5.0

Helsinki, Finland - August 14, 2001 - Multilizer Inc., the leading provider
of software globalization technology, announced today that MULTILIZER®
Developer Edition TM 5.0 software now supports localization of applications
developed for both EPOC Release 5 and Symbian Platform Version 6.0. This
makes MULTILIZER® the first enterprise-level solution on the market that
enables easy and rapid multilingual software production for mobile and
wireless devices such as the Nokia 9200 series Communicator or Psion PDAs.
"Public interest in the Symbian platform has increased steadily around the
world. As a result, many ISVs (independent software vendors) have joined the
group of developers who are bringing business and entertainment applications
to devices working on the EPOC operating system. MULTILIZER® offers a
ground-breaking opportunity to add global value to this software by allowing
development and production of several language versions with minimal effort"
, said Jari Partanen, CEO of Multilizer Inc.
MULTILIZER® Developer Edition TM 5.0 globalization software searches for all
localizable strings from *.RSS files maintained by application developers
and extracts them into an XML-formatted project database. This database file
can automatically be subsetted among the team members for translation
purposes and then re-integrated in the project. For example, the application
's user interface can be enhanced while the translation work is being done
at the same time, without any interruptions. MULTILIZER shows translatable
strings in a table which is easy to use with the efficient and standardized
MULTILIZER user interface. All steps are assisted by the Wizard function
implemented in MULTILIZER®.
MULTILIZER® also includes a Translation Memory that eliminates the need for
translating the same strings over and over again for every future product,
platform or development environment. All the hard work is done only once and
then stored for future use. Furthermore, the Translation Memory supports
import from multiple file formats, allowing the use of third-party
glossaries.
"MULTILIZER® has been shown to decrease the time and money spent on
localization as much as 80%. MULTILIZER® supports - in addition to
EPOC/Symbian related conventions and reference designs such as Quartz and
Crystal - a number of industry standards such as Unicode®", Mr. Partanen
continued.
