Fonix Speech Solutions to be Showcased at Intel Developer Forum

URL(s): www.fonix.com

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug 23, 2001 - Fonix(R) Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: FONX), a leading provider of natural-user interface technology and voice solutions for wireless and mobile devices, Internet and telephony systems, and vehicle telematics, will exhibit its dynamic speech solutions at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Conference, Fall 2001, August 27-30, at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California.

Because technologies constantly evolve, IDF, Fall 2001, is the ideal forum for successful developers to remain up-to-date as new technologies unfold. As a leading and refreshing resource for developers, IDF will address voice portals, handheld clients, peer-to-peer developments, and wireless solutions. Fonix technology reaches each of those areas. Fonix will showcase solutions that incorporate its highly accurate Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and its award-winning Text-To-Speech (TTS).

Fonix will also display its technologies that support the Intel StrongARM processor and the new Intel XScale microarchitecture. In a recently-released case study, Fonix and Intel found that by implementing the Intel(R) Integrated Performance Primitives (IPP) for the Intel(R) StrongARM SA-1110 Microprocessor, Fonix reduced the amount of CPU cycles required for its base ASR engine by 14%, while still retaining greater than 99% accuracy rates when dialing numbers in noisy environments, with full noise reduction capabilities. In other words, Fonix and Intel maintained the high accuracy of Fonix ASR and utilized the CPU cycles more effectively.

Fonix representatives will be showing demonstrations and will be available for questions in the Wireless Applications Area.
