BELLEVUE, Wash -- Spectrum Wireless, Inc. today announced the release of its residential class 2.4 GHz wireless IP router.

The residential router is an indoor unit with one Ethernet port and one console port and runs at 11 Mbps clock rate with throttling at 2 Mbps with an energy efficient 3 volt power design. The new residential model is especially suited for service providers' residential customers and comes fully operational with DHCP, static IP routing, NAT, Simple Rate Limiting (SRL), and a web based interface for ease of configuration. Software may be hot configured over the air so that upgrades can be done quickly, transparently, and remotely. The resultant elimination of truck rolls saves service providers operating costs.

The residential router is an addition to the Spectrum Wireless product line and is an excellent complement to Spectrum's existing business class router. The new residential router lists for $439 retail.

"As we charge ahead with transforming wireless architecture from best effort Ethernet bridging to routing at the edge, service providers and their subscribers greatly benefit from our residential router by realizing higher profits from high performance Internet services," said Charlie Cheng, Spectrum Wireless' VP of Engineering. "Spectrum Wireless' advanced technology enables ISPs to answer the public's demand for broadband access and our residential router demonstrates our commitment to helping our customers deliver high speed access to the end user."

About Spectrum Wireless, Inc.

Headquartered in Bellevue, WA, Spectrum Wireless was formed to develop state-of-the-art wireless IP routing technology with its wireless IP router and deployment systems. The company has pioneered the merging of networking and routing with radio technology in order to provide Internet access to urban and rural areas, where wire lines are not readily available or economically viable. Utilizing Spectrum Wireless technology, broadband providers deploy low-cost business and residential class services with greater speed of deployment and increased IP functionality. Spectrum Wireless is the first provider to offer the Integrated Broadband Operating System (IBOS(TM)) to Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecommunications service providers, and private network operators enabling them to provide voice and high-speed data services to their clients. Spectrum Wireless provides the means to the edge and is the leader addressing solutions in moving IP intelligence and flexibility from the core of fixed broadband wireless networks to the edge.

The company's design and development of feature-rich wireless Internet routers for use in fixed wireless local loops (WLLs), wireless local area networks (WLANs), and wireless wide area networks (WWANs) integrates multiple radio systems for flexibility in frequency and performance. Spectrum Wireless' advanced routing platforms for multiple radio systems allow for deployment and interoperability with licensed and unlicensed systems, providing the fastest throughput of any platform tested. Spectrum Wireless offers a sophisticated feature set with excellent flexibility for the service operator, delivering unparalleled performance.

Spectrum Wireless has successfully developed and deployed its technology during the past two years, and has installed units in multiple networks with customers throughout North America. For more information, visit Spectrum Wireless' website at www.spectrumwireless.net.
