BitFlash announces support for BlackBerry

URL(s): www.bitflash.com

San Jose, California, September 5, 2001 - BitFlash(tm) today announced its new product, the BitFlash Mobile Messaging Suite, which provides BlackBerry(tm) users with the ability to view visually rich email attachments on the wireless handheld. BitFlash, a Select member of Research In Motion's (RIM's) BlackBerry Alliance Program, is providing this new capability to highly mobile industries such as the financial sector, GIS and Energy markets.

"Our advanced email attachment capability gives enterprises a competitive edge. Seeing email attachments with information that is best conveyed visually - like graphs, charts, and tables, from your investment banker - translates into well-informed decisions based on better information," said CEO Antoine Paquin. "This is especially true in the financial market where seeing trends in a graph is far more valuable than getting just the highs and lows for the day."

"The popularity of BlackBerry continues to spread across the enterprise," said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Brand Management at Research In Motion. "Innovative software applications such as the BitFlash Mobile Messaging Suite help enhance the value of BlackBerry to mobile customers and serve varying needs. Many of our customers will enjoy the ability to view financial charts and other graphical information on the go."

The Mobile Messaging Suite frees mobile executives from the desktop. Based on industry standards, it easily integrates with a client's existing BlackBerry environment and allows BlackBerry users to view graphical information contained in attachments. Attachments can be accessed upon receipt or cached on the server for later access, allowing clients to manage their content efficiently. The Mobile Messaging Suite has a user interface that makes it easy to navigate content. It allows users to scroll, pan, and zoom and access embedded links. It also allows users to drill down to more relevant information, like reports associated with key dates in a stock's performance chart.

"We are excited about BitFlash's technology and we believe the visually rich email attachment functionality will beneficially impact the mobile user experience," said Ray Sharma, Managing Director, Wireless Technology from BMO Nesbitt Burns. "The access to better information is definitely a plus for the mobile workforce, whether it's real-time charts, interactive forms, PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, or a variety of other formats."
