LA JOLLA, CALIF., September 5, 2001 - Vaultus (www.vaultus.com), a pioneering provider of wireless mobility solutions for Global 2000 companies, today introduced a client-server wireless software solution for providing enterprise mobile workforces with always-available access to mission-critical data. Vaultus Mobile PlatformÔ, the first integrated Java-based wireless mobility solution, premiered at the prestigious IDG DEMOmobile 2001 Conference with a demonstration on the following devices: the HP JornadaÔ and Compaq iPAQÔ Pocket PCs, and the RIM BlackBerryÔ wireless handheld.
"Experience with our many corporate customers has shown that merely having communication anytime, anywhere is not enough - mobile employees need continuous operations, regardless of network interruptions," said Ronald E. Spears, president and CEO, Vaultus. "We developed Vaultus Mobile Platform to give mobile workforces the ability to work with real-time data, online and offline, in a completely secure environment."
Vaultus Mobile Platform
With the introduction of Vaultus Mobile Platform, enterprises will be able to rely on dependable and secure wireless mobility solutions to increase employee productivity, reduce costs and enhance their competitive advantage. Vaultus Mobile Platform provides a wireless delivery framework that enables rapid development of Java-based enterprise applications, such as the enterprise messaging and mobile sales force applications Vaultus has developed. Key features of Vaultus Mobile Platform are as follows:
· Always-Available Access: Leverages a thin, rich client framework including persistent local data store to enable continuous application and data access, even if network coverage fails. Vaultus' patent-pending RealSyncTM technology guarantees data synchronization and transaction completion despite network interruptions.
· Fully Secure, Encrypted Communications: Enables the integrity and protection of sensitive corporate data, with end-to-end data security between the wireless device and the server behind the corporate firewall.
· Central Administration and Management: Meets the needs of the CTO, IT staff and end users by delivering centralized administration of devices, applications, security levels and users from a single GUI interface. Over-the-air application provisioning facilitates on-the-fly wireless distribution and update of applications to handheld devices.
· Device and Network Neutrality: Enables platform agility through the use of multiple device types, multiple enterprise applications, multiple OS environments and multiple network transports and protocols.
· Scalable, Standards-Based Architecture: Ensures easy scalability and adaptability to future software trends to guard against obsolescence by using industry-standard Java technology and XML structures. Also includes the following enterprise data connectors: Standard Java Database Connector (JDBC), custom back-end connectors and Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) support that provide easy integration into a company's existing IT infrastructure.
· Software Developer's Suite: Comes bundled with an extensive API package to facilitate rapid development of mobile applications.
"Vaultus provides a key solution to the wireless mobility dilemma by giving mobile employees continuous access to mission-critical data regardless of their location," said Jim Forbes, editor of DEMOLetter and producer of IDG Executive Forum's DEMO conferences. "Enterprises adopt Vaultus Mobile Platform to give their employees a secure and reliable solution."
Vaultus Customers
Cyberonics, a company that designs, develops and markets medical devices for the treatment of patients with epilepsy and other debilitating disorders, has chosen Vaultus to develop applications on Vaultus Mobile Platform for its sales force.
"We chose Vaultus Mobile Platform because it allows our sales force to run our enterprise applications on a PDA even when they are not in wireless coverage," said Robert P. ("Skip") Cummins, Cyberonics' chairman and chief executive officer. "Vaultus Mobile Platform will enable our sales force to be more productive and ensure that sales information is captured while it is still fresh and that the most current sales information will be available to all members of the sales team."
