Helps Fleet Operators Reduce Delivery Errors, Cut Costs and Provide Access to Real-Time Package Tracking

La Jolla, Calif./DEMOmobile - September 5, 2001 - AvantGo, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVGO), the leading provider of mobile infrastructure software and services, today announced that it is now shipping AvantGo Mobile Delivery(tm), a packaged supply chain management application for mobile devices. Richard Owen, AvantGo's CEO, will debut the application at DEMOmobile tomorrow in La Jolla, Calif.

AvantGo has leveraged its expertise in mobile fleet operations garnered from extensive work with McKesson Corporation to deliver a pre-built application for the Fortune 1000 that enables delivery fleet operators to reduce delivery errors, cut costs and provide real-time package tracking information to customers. AvantGo Mobile Delivery accomplishes this by replacing error-prone, paper-based processes with an automated delivery system featuring route management, manifest reconciliation and electronic signature capture. The Mobile Delivery application is the second packaged application from AvantGo this year.

John Distefano, Vice President and Practice Director of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young's Mobility Center of Excellence, said: "In order to compete effectively enterprises worldwide are trying to improve the efficiency and responsiveness of their supply chains with mobile solutions. The mobile delivery solution from AvantGo provides our clients with a proven application for increasing delivery performance through reduced delivery errors as well as increased supply chain visibility with real-time wireless delivery tracking."

Built on award-winning AvantGoŽ 4.0 mobile infrastructure software, AvantGo Mobile Delivery ensures true Dynamic Mobility by enabling both wireless online and offline connectivity. AvantGo's unique Dynamic Mobility Model ensures that delivery transactions can be completed regardless of the type, quality or even presence of a wireless connection. AvantGo Mobile Delivery also integrates easily with back-office systems and existing transportation management and routing systems through open communications standards.

McKesson Gains Efficiencies with AvantGo Supply Chain Application

The new application leverages AvantGo's supply chain management expertise with Fortune 35 customer, McKesson Corporation, the world's leading healthcare service and technology company. Using AvantGo enterprise mobile solutions, McKesson has realized direct productivity gains from its mobile delivery application. By streamlining existing delivery processes, McKesson has seen significant savings and delivery errors have dropped to zero. For instance, using the mobile application, McKesson reports that it has reduced imaging costs by 100 percent, legal claims by 50 percent, order errors by over 50 percent and delivery claims by 30 percent.

"Automating our supply chain processes with AvantGo application software and mobile devices dramatically improved our delivery accuracy," said Tom Magill, vice president, Logistics Technologies at McKesson. "A major benefit of the AvantGo Mobile Delivery solution is its ability to easily integrate with our existing back-office systems using open standards. This accelerated our time to market and had a positive effect on customer satisfaction."

Solution Features Benefit Fleet Deliveries

Key features of the new AvantGo Mobile Delivery application include:

* Route Management - Reduces misdirected deliveries and increases productivity by ensuring that drivers have accurate information on stop sequence, delivery address, phone number and delivery instructions.

* Manifest Reconciliation - Decreases delivery errors and reduces the time required for delivery with automated barcode scanning and enforced work rules.

* Electronic Signature Capture - Improves customer service by enabling immediate proof-of-delivery (POD) confirmation to customers and reduces delivery costs by providing a feedback mechanism to ensure that deliveries are completed accurately.

"AvantGo Mobile Delivery takes the knowledge and experience that we've gained through our work with large enterprise organizations and packages them into an application that will save fleet operators time and money, while increasing productivity and improving customer satisfaction," said Richard Owen, AvantGo's CEO. "AvantGo Mobile Delivery automates the supply chain management process, leveraging existing systems to capture information at the point of delivery."
