Ericsson wins breakthrough contract with Italian Kingcom
The Italian operator Kingcom has selected Ericsson as the supplier for
its IP telephony solution, based on Broadband Ethernet Access. The first
of these networks will serve subscribers in the southern Italian city of
Salerno with a variety of services like IP telephony, fast Internet and
other innovative services.
The contract, for the development of a turnkey complete solution, is the
first phase of a general agreement between Ericsson and Kingcom to build
out similar projects in other cities and enterprises in southern Italy.
"Broadband Ethernet Access and IP telephony will generate an important
part of our broadband access services," says Giuseppe Di Leo, Managing
Director of Kingcom. "Ericsson's products target precisely this market
and will provide us with the capabilities to offer our customers the
best services on the market."

Ericsson's Broadband Ethernet Access solution, which uses the DRG
residential gateway to connect the optical fiber to subscribers' houses
and offices, allows for swift and cost-efficient build-out of new
broadband communities. The broadband communities are as robust and
reliable as traditional telephony systems, with up to 100Mb/s capacity
to each end-user, shared between data and telephony traffic.
