Audible.com Provides a Full Suite of Spoken Audio Features for HP Jornada 560 PDA Series

URL(s): www.audible.com

WAYNE, N.J, Sept. 6, 2001-- Offers Hours of Best Selling and Classic Audiobooks, Timely Newspaper and Magazine Audio Digests, and Original Programs

Audible, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADBL) today announced that its AudibleReady(TM) software, which provides users with the power to listen to more than 32,000 hours of premium spoken audio, will be supported on Hewlett-Packard Company's HP Jornada 560 PDA series.

Available for download at Audible's Web site, www.audible.com(R), the AudibleReady(TM) software ships in the HP Jornada 560 PDA series permanent memory (ROM) and CD-ROM.

"We are pleased to continue our valued relationship with HP by extending our Internet audio service to a new line of HP Jornada PDAs," said Guy Story, chief scientist, Audible, Inc. "By listening to content that previously could only be read, or heard on more expensive physical media, HP Jornada users can maximize their productivity when away from the office or home."

Audible gives PDAs the versatility to act as a go-anywhere digital audio player that plays at least eight hours of Audible's spoken audio. Many more hours of Audible's audio may be stored and played using a CompactFlash(TM) memory card. Users can download audio titles to their HP Jornada 560 PDA series on-demand or automatically through periodic or daily subscriptions.

"The sleek, lightweight HP Jornada 560 PDA series was designed with the mobile professional in mind, and Audible's unique Internet audio service is a perfect complement to deliver a total mobile computing solution," said Kok Khoon Lim, general manager of HP smart handheld division. "With Audible's convenience, benefits and industry-leading selection of content, HP is even better able to meet the ever-changing needs of today's on-the-go lifestyles."

Users of the HP Jornada 560 PDA series will receive a $50 rebate for Audible's content when they sign up for 12 months of an AudibleListener(TM) flat-rate monthly membership plan. For $12.95 a month, BasicListener(TM) enables the user to download any audiobook and any one-month subscription of their choice. PremiumListener(TM), for $15.95 each month, gives the user any two audiobooks from Audible's industry-leading selection of over 5,500 audiobooks. Audible.com's 32,000 hours of spoken audio are available at prices that speak to the efficiencies of media distribution using the Internet as compared to traditional channels and physical products.

Audible.com features daily audio editions of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Los Angeles Times -- all available on a subscription basis in time for the morning drive to work each day--as well as The Economist, Forbes, Fast Company, Scientific American and C-SPAN Booknotes. The site also offers a powerful collection of audiobook best sellers and classics by authors such as Stephen King, John Grisham, Frank McCourt, Jon Krakauer, Scott Adams, Mary Higgins Clark, James Redfield, James Patterson, William Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson and Jane Austen. There are also speeches, lectures, and on-demand radio programs including Marketplace, All Things Considered, Car Talk, Fresh Air and This American Life. All of the programs at audible.com are available for PC-based playback and on-the-go listening using numerous AudibleReady(TM) portable digital audio players offered by leading consumer electronics and computer manufacturers.
