Handheld Media Group to Host Premier SyncFest™ Conference and Exposition for Palm Powered™ Handheld Computing Enthusiasts

SAN MATEO, CA (September 7, 2001)...Handheld Media Group, publisher of Handheld Computing™ Magazine, announces it will produce a nationwide series of expositions aimed at consumers interested in learning more about Palm Powered™ handheld computing. The intent of SyncFest™ is to bring developers of software and hardware solutions for Palm OS® handheld computers face-to-face with consumers. The first SyncFest event will be held in San Jose, California on October 27, 2001 at the Hyatt San Jose Airport Hotel.

“Studies have revealed that, even with the multitudes of software applications and add-on accessories for handheld computers, most users of Palm Powered devices remain unaware that they can do anything other than what is available with the basic functions provided out-of-the-box,” said Andrew Eisenberg, President of Handheld Media Group. “Our aim with SyncFest is to offer a low-cost avenue for solutions providers to meet with consumers and educate them on how Palm OS solutions can substantially improve their on-the-go lifestyles.”

Throughout the day, SyncFest San Jose 2001 will feature exhibits, product demonstrations, panel discussions and seminars aimed at both handheld computing novices and experts. SyncFest attendees will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with solution providers, Palm OS licensees and product manufacturers to learn more about Palm Powered handheld devices, applications and accessories.

Developers of consumer-focused solutions will showcase their products and present case studies on how their solutions are applied in real-world settings. Exhibitors and sponsors will be provided exhibit space, product demonstration periods, wireless Internet access, and promotion in event signage and the SyncFest San Jose 2001 Show Guide.

The first SyncFest event is timed to follow PalmSource®, the premiere gathering of product developers for Palm OS handhelds, being held October 23 – 26 in San Jose. By providing a venue the day following the conclusion of PalmSource, developers who have already traveled to San Jose for PalmSource can simply stay an extra day to participate in SyncFest and have an opportunity to meet directly with their prospective customers.

SyncFest San Jose 2001 is now open for registration at www.hhmgroup.com/syncfest. The event offers two levels of participation for developers – Sponsor and Exhibitor. Sponsors and exhibitors must register prior to September 15, 2001 to receive an early registration discount of up to [KD1] 25%. SyncFest San Jose 2001 will be marketed through traditional methods, combined with promotion initiated by exhibitors and sponsors through their Web sites and newsletters.

Handheld Media Group will soon publish a schedule of future SyncFest events to be held throughout the U.S.
