7 September 2001 -- MobilEyes, the Swedish mobile technology consultancy, will focus on developing tailor-made client applications for the new Nokia 9210 Communicator. This device is the world's first open integrated mobile device featuring the Symbian OS. MobilEyes has developed a database-aware application framework for Symbian OS. – The new communicator is an excellent device for creating tailor-made applications, and our framework will speed up the development of these applications for our clients, says Magnus Johansson, Chief Technical Officer at MobilEyes.

Many companies want to bring their business applications to the field, so they can access and enter data using handheld computers and other wireless information devices. Typical application areas are CRM, logistics, time reporting, data collection, etc. - The synchronization technology and databases for these types of solutions is already here. Our solution makes it possible to create customized user interfaces independent of database formats and synchronization technology, adds Magnus Johansson.

Database-aware application framework

MobilEyes has developed a database application framework for Symbian OS (EPOC). This framework will significantly speed up the development of tailor-made applications, which access data that have been synchronized to the mobile device. The framework consists of data-aware UI-components that are associated with classes for database navigators and data- sources.

- Our ambition is to add support for different database formats as they become available from different vendors. We will also continue to add new UI-component types and other features to the framework, says Magnus Johansson.
