LA JOLLA, Calif., Sept. 6, 2001-- iBroker Enables Wireless Subscribers to Access, Store and Share Their Personal Rich Multimedia Content

DEMOmobile Conference--Bitfone Corporation, a software infrastructure provider for the mobile Internet, today unveiled the iBroker(TM) software infrastructure that provides global wireless carriers with media-rich messaging and personal content services to enhance the end-users' experience on the wireless network.

Bitfone was selected as a featured speaker to demonstrate its break-through product, iBroker, at DEMOmobile 2001. iBroker enables carriers to offer subscribers the ability to access, store, message and share rich multimedia content including photos, cartoons and images from any Internet enabled mobile phone.

Bitfone's product answers the question of how carriers are going to drive adoption of next-generation services and increase revenues while leveraging their investment in existing 2G, 2.5G and future 3G networks. In a separate release, Bitfone announced today the completion of its $6 million series A round of equity financing led by Nokia Venture Partners. Nexit Ventures and IncubASIA also participated in the round.

"Bitfone's software infrastructure leverages the worldwide success of text messaging and mobile email to enhance the end-user's experience and create true customer value," said Gene Wang, Bitfone's chairman and CEO. "Bitfone provides compelling rich media applications that generate new revenue streams and an immediate return on carriers' wireless infrastructure investments by driving adoption and usage of current and next-generation services."

The carrier-grade, Java-based iBroker software infrastructure integrates with any mobile Internet technology to provide the following feature-rich applications:

-- iShare(TM) Network enables mobile Internet subscribers to access, store, message and share rich multimedia content from the Web and from personal network storage managed by the service provider.

-- iShare(TM) PC enables mobile Internet subscribers to access, store, message and share multimedia content from the Web and from the subscribers' own PC.

The content for both applications can originate from any Web site, PC or via mobile email or Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).

"Carriers are looking for applications that will get subscribers to adopt next-generation services and handsets," said Jim Forbes, producer of DEMOmobile. "Bitfone's iBroker technology provides an exciting and cutting-edge answer by turning subscribers' own personal content from the Web, personal network storage and their PC, into valuable, fun and user-friendly messaging services."

iBroker opens up the entire Web for messaging and gives carriers the opportunity to increase average revenue per user (ARPU). iBroker provides charging detail records that integrate into carriers existing billing systems to provide multiple billing options such as value-based billing. iBroker supports any wireless network, transport and microbrowser technology including GSM, CDMA, TDMA, PDC, GPRS, W-CDMA, CDMA 2000, WAP and i-Mode.

Target Market

Bitfone will begin by targeting wireless carriers in Asia and Europe initially, closely followed by the U.S. Bitfone is capitalizing on the popularity of messaging services that have become an integral part of daily life and adding the capability to send rich-media content that originates from any Web site, personal computer or MMS message. iBroker gives carriers a new revenue stream from one of the most sought after demographics -- the youth market and young adults.
