ReefEdge Releases ReefEdge.Connect v.1.2
URL(s): ReefEdge
FORT LEE, N.J., Sept. 10 -- ReefEdge, Inc. announced today
the release of ReefEdge Connect(TM) v.1.2, the newest version of its acclaimed
value-added solution for wireless LANs. The ReefEdge Connect system delivers
enhanced security, mobility, connectivity, scalability, manageability and
seamless integration to the enterprise. The solution will be demonstrated
live with any 802.11-enabled laptop or handheld at Booth 1012,
NetWorld+Interop Atlanta, taking place at the Georgia World Congress Center
during exhibit hours September 11 - 13.
"ReefEdge Connect enables both employees and guest users to access network
resources from anywhere in the enterprise," said Inder Gopal, ReefEdge
co-founder and CEO. "No longer confined to their desks, they collaborate
everywhere -- spending more time getting things done and less time getting
connected." He added, "ReefEdge Connect is also a tremendous windfall for IT
managers, allowing them to deploy and manage wireless devices on their
existing networks quickly, securely and inexpensively."
"ReefEdge Connect allows us to challenge the barriers that prevent
enterprises from implementing WLANs; ReefEdge is a technological innovator,
providing a complete total wireless solution with the security, scalability
and performance our corporate customers require," said Aaron Campana, VP
Corporate Services at Datavision-Prologix.
The ReefEdge Connect System is easily layered onto an Enterprise's
existing wireless LAN and is designed to work with all emerging wireless
technologies. Connect v.1.2 further enhances Connect v.1.0's ease of
deployment and manageability by introducing new features that include: Single
Sign-On for Windows(TM) Domains and Cisco ACS environments; and an intuitive
web-based GUI to manage users, applications and services within the network.
"Growth of the Wireless LAN market is a sure bet. However, security and
usability factors currently inhibit large-scale enterprise deployments. For
that reason, there are real market opportunities for companies that address
the current lack of productivity-critical features,_ said Valerie O'Connell,
Managing Director, Enterprise Systems Management with the Aberdeen Group.
One of the most significant advancements in ReefEdge's Connect System
v.1.2 is the introduction of its patent-pending "Mobile Masquerading(TM)"
technology, which delivers on the scalability and performance needs of large
enterprises and public spaces. The technology enables device-independent
seamless roaming, building upon the masquerading techniques commonly used in
Internet firewalls. Mobile devices logged into the network retain a single IP
address as they roam across different network segments or subnets; the
ReefEdge Connect Server sees the "logged-in" IP address for the device,
regardless of where it happens to be within the wireless system. Mobile
Masquerading is compatible with all TCP/IP, UDP/IP, and WAP applications,
which require no modification. The decentralized design of Mobile Masquerading
avoids performance bottlenecks and minimizes routing inefficiencies,
particularly for the short-lived connections that are characteristic of many
of today's Web-based applications. Unlike alternative approaches such as
tunneling, Mobile Masquerading introduces minimal latency, making it
appropriate for real-time data traffic.
