FunMail Unveils Animating Client on QUALCOMM's BREW

URL(s): FunMail

PLEASANTON, Calif. --Sept. 10, 2001--FunMail unveiled client software today capable of displaying animations on a BREW phone from QUALCOMM (Nasdaq:QCOM). The BREW client, running on a Kyocera handset, shows how the FunMail BREW client will enable users to author and display engaging and fun animations in color and black and white. A demo video of the client software is available at http://corp.funmail.com/news/funmail-brew.html.

"FunMail on BREW is the first client-side software we have developed for FunMail," said FunMail CEO Adam Lavine. "Our philosophy is to develop client-side software when it enhances the FunMail user experience. BREW's capacity to animate, plus MIDI and MP3 capabilities that we are just starting to explore, is very attractive to us. This will definitely make sending FunMail messages from BREW handsets a fun and unique experience."

FunMail previously announced support for QUALCOMM's BREW platform. FunMail and QUALCOMM are working closely in developing the FunMail BREW client. The FunMail BREW client leverages the FunMail rendering engine, which also supports handsets from vendors such as Nokia (Nasdaq:NOK) FunMail plans to leverage its content relationships with companies like Sanrio, Comedy Central, uClick and Handtap Communications to bring famous-name characters to the BREW platform.

QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW(TM)) platform is a very thin applications environment for wireless devices. It provides applications developers with an open, standard platform upon which to develop their products.

FunMail is designed to work across multiple protocols on multiple networks, including SMS, WAP, cHTML, NTT DoCoMo i-mode and BREW. The FunMail system is live in Japan on the NTT DoCoMo i-mode network. More information is available at http://corp.funmail.com and people can send their own FunMail from http://www.funmail.com.
