SmartServ to Introduce Wireless Financial Applications Developed on QUALCOMM's BREW Platform
STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 17 -- SmartServ Online(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: SSOL), a leading Web and wireless
application services provider, introduced at CTIA Wireless I.T. & Internet
2001 MobileMarkets(TM) Silver, the first of four applications that SmartServ
will offer to wireless carriers and financial enterprises written to run on
QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW(TM)) platform.
MobileMarkets(TM) Silver will allow carriers and subscribers to receive quotes
from NASDAQ, NYSE, S & P, market news and indices on a full array of
BREW-enabled mobile devices.
QUALCOMM's BREW platform is a thin applications environment that greatly
simplifies the task of integrating applications onto wireless devices, ranging
from inexpensive mass-market phones, through high-end multi-purpose wireless
devices.
"With the help of QUALCOMM, SmartServ can offer quickly deployed,
carrier-grade applications that drive wireless market data adoption and
generate revenue from wireless financial data services," said Sam Cassetta,
SmartServ CEO.
"We're enthusiastic about the premier financial applications SmartServ has
developed using the BREW platform," said Gina Lombardi, senior vice president
of marketing and product management for QUALCOMM Internet Services.
"SmartServ's expertise in developing wireless applications has already proven
to be successful and we're pleased to help build on that success."
