AirFlash and Cambridge Positioning Systems Team to Deliver High Accuracy Location Services to Wireless Carriers

September 18, 2001 - AirFlash, Inc., a leading provider of
location-based technologies and services for network
operators and wireless service providers, and Cambridge
Positioning Systems Limited (CPS), the world's leading
provider of mobile location technology, announced today that
the companies are co-operating to demonstrate high accuracy
mobile location services. Network operators can now easily
utilise the complementary location technologies of the two
companies to deploy highly accurate network-based, location-
relevant mobile services; far surpassing the United States'
FCC E911 mandate accuracy requirements of 100 meters or 50
meters 67% of the time, depending on operator technology
choice.
The CPS CursorT mobile positioning technology detects and
feeds highly accurate x,y position data into the AirFlash
SmartZoneT location platform which then uses the location
data to perform a location-relevant Yellow Page business
search, provide driving/walking directions, or display a map
of the area. CPS' Cursor, based on E-OTD (Enhanced Observed
Time Difference) technology, offers fast, cost-effective
deployment and can achieve location accuracies to 50 meters.
The AirFlash SmartZone wireless location services platform
is infrastructure software that relies on, and is compatible
with, location technology and content databases available
from a wide array of premier companies and vendors
worldwide.
