LONDON, Sept. 26, 2001-- Self-sufficient Wireless Telephone Accessory Expected to Launch Globally During the Fourth Quarter of 2001

Freeplay Energy Group, the world's leading developer of self-sufficient energy technology, and Motorola, Inc. today announced an exclusive, worldwide co-branding and distribution agreement to develop and market a Freeplay-driven wireless phone power source.

The wind-up accessory, which is compatible with a variety of Motorola and other popular wireless phones, is expected to provide between 3-6 minutes of talk* and several hours of standby time*, for each 45-second hand-cranking session.

Widely known for its world-renowned line of self-sufficient radios and lanterns, Freeplay's relationship with Motorola marks its first foray into the wireless telephony industry and exemplifies the company's new strategic direction as a business-to-business technology company. The new self-sufficient energy power source, which for the first time will enable consumers to charge their wireless phones using Freeplay's unique wind-up technology, is scheduled to become available in U.S. later this year.

"Our agreement with Motorola is a major strategic milestone in the history of our company, and will further enable us in making Freeplay's unique technology available to consumers throughout the developed and developing world," said Rory Stear, Chairman and CEO of Freeplay Energy Group. "Motorola's world-class brand and global distribution channels will allow us to introduce millions of wireless telephone users around the world to the freedom and reliability that self-sufficient energy provides."

"Freeplay's self-sufficient energy technology will add an entire new dimension to Motorola's wireless telephony products by enabling users to charge their phones anytime, anywhere regardless of whether an electrical outlet is nearby," said Gary Brandt, business director within the Companion Products and Accessories Division of Motorola's Personal Communications Sector. "A wireless phone user, using the new accessory, will never again be faced with a situation where he or she can't make a wireless phone call because their battery is dead and they have no access to an outlet. And in an urgent situation, that's an incredibly reassuring and powerful advantage."
