UTRECHT, Netherlands, Sep 27, 2001 - MicroStrategy(R) Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence software,
today announced that Utrecht, Netherlands-based Vizzavi, a joint venture of the Vodafone Group -- market leader in the field of cellular communication -- and Vivendi Universal -- Europe's
leading media firm, has opted to deploy the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform(TM) across its entire organization. MicroStrategy software will enable Vizzavi to gather and
analyze information about Vizzavi portal visitors and users of Vizzavi services. As a result, Vizzavi will be able to enhance its customer relations by providing more personalized services
that meet the interests and needs of each user. Vizzavi is a multi-access portal providing Internet, wireless application protocol (WAP), short message service (SMS) and e-mail services
and alerts.
"Scalability and rapid implementation played important roles in our choosing MicroStrategy, and scalability is proving to be no problem at all," said Stephan Trimbos, Vizzavi Project
Manager. "At the moment, analyzing the data of all registered users is proving quite simple. And since eighty percent of our information needs were met with pre-defined reports, we were
able to get underway rather quickly."
Vizzavi selected MicroStrategy for its proven, scalable technology, the immediate availability of standard reports, and the local support that MicroStrategy offers. In addition, the
MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform includes the ability to deliver information via e-mail and wireless devices. MicroStrategy, in conjunction with Devote and Ibas, will also
support the further expansion and development of the Vizzavi data warehouse.
"The out-of-the-box information delivery options are important to us, as they enable us to develop close personal ties with our end users," said Trimbos. "It was also essential for us to
have well-trained, locally- operating specialists available. The MicroStrategy staff immediately understood the type of data we needed to analyze and demonstrated a flexibile and
professional approach to our relationship, working with us to solve our business challenges."
"We are extremely enthusiastic about working with such a young and dynamic venture as Vizzavi," said Wietse Bakker, senior consultant at MicroStrategy Benelux. "Vizzavi knows
how to fully leverage the information provided by MicroStrategy analyses, which is reflected in a constant flow of innovative, fun and creative services the company offers through its
portals."
