BELLEVUE, Wash., Oct. 1, 2001--
Combined Solution Allows Real-Time Wireless Access to Siebel 7 and Other Enterprise Applications From Single Platform
Infowave Software, Inc. (TSE:IW.), a global provider of software that connects enterprise applications to wireless devices, today announced
support for Siebel 7, the seventh major release of Siebel eBusiness Applications from Siebel Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL).
The Infowave Wireless Business Engine is a best of breed platform for managing wireless connectivity between Siebel 7 and a variety of wireless
devices. The combination of companies' offerings provides organizations with complete eBusiness solutions that increase productivity, maximize revenue
and profit, and significantly enhance customer acquisition, satisfaction, and retention.
Siebel Systems enables software vendors to easily integrate solutions through its open, extensible, advanced Smart Web Architecture. Unlike
rudimentary HTML clients, Siebel Smart Web Architecture combines a zero-footprint, browser-based Web client and a user interface with levels of
interactivity and usability traditionally available only in Windows applications. The Siebel Smart Web Architecture enables organizations to leverage the
industry's best eBusiness applications at the lowest total cost of ownership.
Siebel 7 extends the reach and functionality of Siebel Systems' industry-leading suite of integrated, multichannel eBusiness applications, enabling
organizations to translate customer relationship strategy into execution by effectively aligning and rapidly integrating channels, employees and partners.
Siebel 7 allows organizations to manage, synchronize and coordinate all customer touch points across the Web, call center, field sales and service
personnel, and partner channels.
"Our customers are very interested in expanding their use of Siebel eBusiness applications by leveraging best-of-breed wireless technology," said
Catherine Cherubino, senior managing director, software and industry alliances for Siebel Systems. "Infowave's Wireless Business Engine gives
customers the flexibility of using Siebel eBusiness applications wirelessly at the same time they're able to access email, and other key data they depend
on, wirelessly. We believe this puts customers in the driver's seat, giving them flexibility in the devices they carry, the data they access wirelessly and the
ability to leverage the power of Siebel 7 anywhere, anytime, immediately."
"We are pleased to announce our support for Siebel 7 at a time when enterprises are truly interested in accessing information beyond just email
wirelessly," said Infowave Vice President of Channels and Alliances, John Diack. "Infowave's Wireless Business Engine and Siebel 7's new Smart Web
Architecture will be optimized for speed, performance and security. We believe our joint customers will gain the ability to respond to market changes,
cross-sell, increase customer value and enhance their competitive position with real-time access to Siebel 7 information when they're out of the office."
Using Infowave's Wireless Business Engine, Siebel Systems' customers can access Siebel 7's Smart Web Architecture through the Infowave Web
Connector for a real-time view of customer information, sales data, inventory information, and other decision support data that sales people, consultants
and executives need when they're out of the office. At the same time, the Infowave Web Connector provides access to corporate intranets and other
Web-based applications. The Infowave Exchange Connector can be used to access email, calendar and other personal information management (PIM)
information, and the Infowave Open Application Connector can be used to access legacy and client/server applications.
Enterprises can tailor the Infowave Wireless Business Engine to include the specific capabilities the company needs by switching on the appropriate
connectors. Infowave's Wireless Business Engine works on a wide range of devices, including WAP phones, handheld computers and laptops, and
PDAs, Microsoft operating systems, as well as a wide range of wireless networks, including CDPD, GSM, GPRS, TDMA, CDMA and Mobitex.
The Infowave Wireless Business Engine is powered by Infowave AirPower, Infowave's network intelligent wireless middleware that provides the
advanced data delivery capabilities required by customers and users of smart wireless devices like laptops and personal digital assistants (PDAs).
