COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 1, 2001--The CDMA Development Group (CDG)(www.cdg.org) today announced that George Gilder, chairman of Gilder Publishing LLC and a founder of Forbes ASAP, is among the distinguished speaker line-up at the 2001 CDMA Americas Congress.

As a high-tech futurist, Gilder will deliver the keynote address on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001.

The CDMA Americas Congress, organized by the CDG and Institute for International Research (IIR), will be held Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2001 at the San Diego Convention Center.

"The CDG is pleased to have George Gilder's participation," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. "His visions on technology and extensive knowledge of the industry will provide Congress delegates with an expert perspective on the future of wireless communications as we move to 3G."

In addition to his role as chairman of Gilder Publishing LLC, Gilder is also a senior fellow at Discovery Institute where he directs Discovery's program on high technology and public policy. He is a founder and contributor to Forbes ASAP, and a contributing editor of Forbes. His latest book, "Telecosm," explores the growth in communications technology.

Gilder has also served as a speech writer for several prominent officials and candidates, including Nelson Rockefeller, George Romney and Richard Nixon. Frequently quoted by President Reagan, Gilder was the recipient of the White House Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence and was made a Fellow of the International Engineering Consortium. Gilder attended Exeter Academy and Harvard University.

This year's Americas Congress will focus on the launch of revenue-generating 3G services, and content and applications for CDMA wireless technology. Speakers will also include Dr. Irwin Jacobs, co-founder, chairman and CEO of QUALCOMM Inc.; Rich Karlgaard, publisher, Forbes; and Tom Sugrue, chief, Wireless Telecommunications Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
