SL Corporation Announces SL-GMS Real-Time Java HMI Compatibility With SavaJe XE Operating System
URL(s): www.savaje.com
CORTE MADERA, Calif., Oct 2, 2001 - SL Corporation, a provider of software and service solutions fo beta program, is an operating
system for information appliances that supports the full Java(TM) 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE(TM)). It is targeted at information appliance (OEMs) and
enterprises that wish to deploy mobile and wireless applications and benefit from the availability of the full J2SE platform.
SL-GMS J/Developer's thin client technology insures highly compact and efficient client applets that result in superior download performance and real-time data
updates. This helps achieve real-time dynamic graphics on handheld wireless devices, such as the Compaq iPAQ.
According to Ted Wilson, vice president of marketing at SL Corporation, these benefits are now extended to the SavaJe XE OS.
"SL Corporation is very excited to provide a highly interactive Java HMI for wireless devices that will significantly enhance e-manufacturing capabilities and
initiatives," said Wilson. "SL-GMS J/Developer is an application that complements the SavaJe XE operating system by allowing developers to bring more
mission-critical, real-time data and graphical components to a variety of wireless handheld devices."
This will significantly enhance the e-manufacturing function where a key component is the ability of the production process systems to pass and share
information in a very collaborative environment.
SL-GMS J/Developer is ideal for developing high-performance, dynamic graphical user interfaces driven by real-time data. Users can create highly compact Java
applets, which are optimal for Internet- or intranet-based HMI systems, and take advantage of Java's cross-platform web support. In addition to a robust set of
objects, from graphs to switches, users can create their own custom dynamic graphics, which can be used for rapid prototyping and in a production
environment. Both data monitoring and user input functions are enhanced by the use of SL-GMS.
"As the newest member of the SavaJe Partner Program, we are looking forward to a long working relationship with SL Corporation. The ability for SL-GMS
J/Developer to interoperate with SavaJe XE raises the bar for developers seeking to provide full-featured J2SE applications on information appliances," said B.
McKinley Hackett III, director of business development at SavaJe Technologies. "The combination of SavaJe XE and SL-GMS J/Developer brings enterprises the
ability to deploy powerful real-time graphical user interface technology to a variety of information appliances, including the Compaq iPAQ, and will bring
increased mobility to those manufacturing and process functions that require critical real-time data."
