Motorola Awards AVel-TECH With an Automatic Vehicle Location Contract for Lexington County Emergency Medical Services, South Carolina

LAVAL, Quebec, Oct. 1, 2001--Motorola has awarded AVeL-TECH with an Automatic Vehicle Location contract for Lexington County EMS. AVeL-TECH will provide Lexington County EMS with AVeL-NET Base and RadioGATE for their fleet of ambulances. The AVeL-NET system will be interfaced to Lexington County's existing Computer Aided Dispatch system using a Motorola RD-LAP network and will allow Lexington County EMS to keep track of their vehicle fleet in order to improve emergency response times.

The Lexington County 9-1-1 Center is the hub for emergency, police, fire, and medical services in Lexington County.

It also coordinates activities between the County's emergency services and several municipal police departments. Lexington County 9-1-1 center serves a population of approximately 216,000 people within the county, which covers 750 square miles. It dispatches 22,000 EMS calls per year.
