Burntsand and Adobe Systems Team to Deliver Powerful Image Processing to Documentum 4i(TM) Web Content Management Edition

TORONTO, Oct 02, 2001 - MOMENTUM 2001 DOCUMENTUM WORLDWIDE USER CONFERENCE - BURNTSAND INC. (BURNTSAND) (TSE:BRT), a leading eBusiness solutions integrator announced today that it is working with Adobe Systems Incorporated to deliver breakthrough-imaging capabilities to workflow and content-intensive enterprise communications, collaboration, and commerce activities. The focus of this business initiative is the integration of Adobe(R) AlterCast(TM) imaging server software with Documentum 4i(TM) Web Content Management (WCM) Edition. Documentum (Nasdaq: DCTM) is the leading provider of enterprise content management.

Burntsand, a North American eBusiness solution integrator for both Adobe and Documentum, is dedicating a team of business strategy, technical, and business development resources to the application of Adobe AlterCast functionality in solutions utilizing Documentum 4i WCM Edition.

This combination brings unprecedented flexibility, creative control, quality assurance, and cost and time-to-market efficiencies to graphics and image production processes that are increasingly associated with supplier, employee, and customer facing communications across the entire media mix, from documents and brochures, to optical media such as CD-ROM, as well as Internet portals and distribution via mobile devices, such as PDAs.

"Improvements to automated content authoring and production tasks have not kept pace with the growing need for rich content throughout the business environment", stated Paul Bertin, President and CEO of Burntsand. "Much of the work remains manual, resulting in unacceptable costs and bottlenecks. AlterCast solves important aspects of this problem."

AlterCast is a customizable imaging server for modifying and transforming data-driven graphics. Well-designed business and content production processes can now rely on AlterCast technology to extend Documentum-based dynamic publishing workflows for print, Web and other distribution channels across the media mix.

"We're pleased to work with Burntsand to bring dynamic imaging to content management solutions for global 2000 companies," said Bryan Lamkin, senior vice president of Web publishing for Adobe. "Documentum 4i eBusiness Platform, Adobe Altercast, and Burntsand's extensive experience are a powerful combination that help customers realize significant savings in automating image production for the most visually compelling e-commerce experience."

Taking advantage of the integration developed by Adobe to link AlterCast with Documentum 4i, Burntsand is creating solutions that enable businesses to leverage a single visual source file by applying it to numerous, diverse business purposes. For example, non-technical business users can manipulate pricing information associated with a visual and then transform, according to business rules "on the fly" to multiple target file formats. Documentum provides robust production workflows, tagging and management of visual assets, and publishing support for a variety of media, including Web, print, and CD- Rom.

"With Documentum 4i and Adobe AlterCast, these Burntsand solutions leverage valuable content assets and help maximize returns from marketing, supply chain, customer management, and a host of other activities and functions across the enterprise," stated Jay De Walt, vice president of partner initiatives for Documentum. "Burntsand is uniquely positioned to help customers manage and exploit the application of high value imagery and content- intensive processes to meet their business objectives."
