URL(s): www.sirf.com

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 4, 2001-- Leading GPS Vendor Delivers Comprehensive Data, Viewpoint and Interviews About FCC's Enhanced 911 Mandate On Its Web Site, www.sirf.com

SiRF Technology, Inc., a leading developer of global positioning system (GPS)-enabled location technology, has assembled an information resource specifically for reporters writing about the FCC's Enhanced 911 (E911) mandate on its web site, www.sirf.com.

The site includes the FCC docket describing the mandate; recent related articles; links to the FCC and other web sites; SiRF's view about the mandate and the deadline and pressures to extend the deadline; and access to interviews with SiRF executives who have been working with the FCC and carriers.

"We are aware that hundreds of reporters are in the process of filing stories not only about E911, but also about how location awareness can be critical in relief efforts; and we hope that this site provides a helpful resource for them," stated Kanwar Chadha, founder and vice president of marketing of SiRF. "We believe that investment in an E911 system that provides accurate location information is critical for the safety and security of wireless subscribers, and that the FCC should take this into consideration as they look at carrier waiver requests."
