MOBILEQ*'s XMLEDGE* ENABLES POCKET PC 2002 SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS TO BUILD INTEGRATED MEDIA APPLICATIONS

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2001 SHORT HILLS, NJ - MobileQ*, a leading developer of mobile software solutions, today announced enhanced support for Microsoft Windows-Powered Pocket PC 2002 Software developers with a demonstration that fully integrates a variety of media sources - including streaming audio, video, and live news feeds - for display on hand-held devices, such as the Compaq iPAQ. Based on MobileQ's flagship product, XMLEdge*, the demonstration will show an ideal Pocket PC 2002 application for a variety of mobile content providers and mobile enterprise developers.

MobileQ will demonstrate the content development application at the Pocket PC 2002 launch event at the Concourse in San Francisco today. XMLEdge enables enterprise and carrier customers to create scalable mobile applications on any device and over any network, resulting in a seamless user experience on Pocket PC 2002 devices. Through extensive client development, MobileQ has optimized the interface for devices such as the iPAQ, particularly with an 802.11b, or Wi-Fi, wireless local area network (LAN) card. Leveraging the enhanced capabilities of Pocket PC 2002, MobileQ will demonstrate a dynamic content area that actively plays scrolling images and enables seamless messaging.

The XMLEdge Pocket PC 2002 demonstration includes support for ActiveSync 3.5 technology, Windows Media Player 8.0, and MSN Messenger Service. "The vision of converged multimedia on handheld devices is most strongly evidenced by Pocket PC 2002, and we believe that this offers an ideal opportunity for XMLEdge-based applications for PDAs," said Suren Pai, president and CEO of MobileQ. MobileQ has demonstrated a number of customized Pocket PC solutions using XMLEdge, in market segments such as financial services, sports, fleet management, medical, insurance, and IT helpdesk solutions. These solution integrate mobile instant messaging, streaming video with aggregated content for news, sports, and entertainment, and ActiveSync for vertical segments. XMLEdge enables content developers that target Pocket PC 2002 applications to create a range of solutions that integrate back-office software, such as CRM or SFA, with other media, all served efficiently and securely to PDAs. XMLEdge provides support for all browsers, including Microsoft Pocket IE. Using the Pocket PC 2002 SDK, developers can create a range of applications.

XMLEdge optimizes the presentation layer of any application for all browsers. XMLEdge supports Microsoft Exchange 5.5, and incorporates key Microsoft technologies. XMLEdge has been successfully tested on more than 200 mobile devices, ranging from PCS and WAP phones, to Palm OS devices, Windows CE and Pocket PC devices (such as the iPAQ), pagers, kiosks, and even WebTV devices.

XMLEdge integrates with the Microsoft Mobile Information Server* (MIS) through XMLEdge transports and also integrates with Microsoft .NET servers through XMLEdge connectors.
