Covault and Numerex Partner to Provide Event-based Billing to Wireless Carriers
URL(s): www.nmrx.com
SEATTLE, Oct 4, 2001 - Covault(TM) Corporation, a leading provider of wireless data billing solutions, and Numerex Solution LLC, a subsidiary of Numerex Corp.
(NASDAQ: NMRX), a leader in wireless data communications, have entered into an agreement to provide event-based billing solutions to wireless carriers.
Utilizing Covault's Billing Record Exchange software platform, BRX(TM) and Numerex's Data1Source(TM) Short Message Service (SMS) service bureau, the alliance allows service
providers to capture, rate and bill premium wireless data services on a transactionary basis. Wireless carriers can move away from flat rate or subscription pricing and begin offering
value-based billing.
While cooperating with existing billing systems, Covault's patent-pending BRX(TM), utilizes configurable usage capture processes and a conditional formula-based rating engine
allowing carriers to rapidly implement new services and to adjust their rate plans to meet ever-changing needs. BRX can add billing records to existing bills and allows carriers and
subscribers to access their billing and usage details online.
Already serving many wireless operators in North America, Data1Source's proprietary and patent pending technology provides TDMA, CDMA and GSM wireless carriers with a broad
range of services including Web-based and e-mail-based text messaging, two-way messaging, SMS Touch-Tone(TM) paging, subscriber-customized Internet content, and over-the-air
digital handset programming. Data1Source SMS functionality is attainable without requiring a large capital investment for additional hardware.
"We are very excited to partner with Numerex and offer wireless carriers the opportunity to broaden their offerings and expand their revenue opportunity in the process," said Covault
CEO Marc Della Torre. "By utilizing BRX, wireless carriers are enabled in a cost effective way to profit from data services by eliminating revenue leaks and adding the ability to bill for
premium content."
"Covault's ability to provide wireless carriers with a robust, event-based billing solution will increase penetration of wireless data services," explained Greg Hull, VP of Wireless Internet
Solutions for Numerex. "We are pleased to work with Covault to expand the penetration of Data1Source with monetized transaction-based services."
