San Francisco, CA (October 9, 2001) – WideRay, developers of wireless beaming technology for delivering on-location, broadband data services to mobile devices, today announced that it has launched its Agency Partnership Program to formalize strategic alliances with leading agencies.
The program has been created to extend the company’s distribution network and foster the co-development of
customized wireless solutions for advertising clients. The program launches with three key alliances with industry innovators: Foote Cone & Belding Chicago, SF Interactive and Starcom North America.
WideRay creates the Jack™ mobile caching server, a compact device that beams on-location content and applications to handhelds such as Palms or Compaq iPaqs. The Jack is self-contained and wireless, and can be installed into many different environments. Marketers can publish customized content over WideRay’s wireless network to an individual Jack, or network of Jack devices, from a central location or on site. Content downloads are free to the end user, and the WideRay solution is designed to be low cost and easy to execute. The system also allows media audits by providing data on the number of downloads, repeat visitors, and follow-through.
The company has attracted customers and partners including Mercedes, Palm Computing, Sony, San Francisco Giants, Stanford University, as well as a long list of tradeshows and conferences. WideRay’s technology has been successfully deployed for consumer-facing CRM and marketing applications, as well as enterprise-facing workforce applications.
"The WideRay platform enhances existing brand touch points including in-store marketing, outdoor media, event marketing, as well as creates new innovative marketing opportunities," said Brandon Berger, Director of Marketing and Agency Evangelist at WideRay. "Handheld content delivery is a new, independent medium that our partners can leverage to offer unique marketing solutions and help them to break out of the clutter from their competitors."
WideRay’s partners can extend a marketing message into the personal handheld environments of their end customers. For example, WideRay has worked closely with Foote Cone & Belding to deliver a customized solution for their client, Palm, to beam San Francisco Giants content to end users on location at Pacific Bell Ballpark. (Also see Press Release: Giants and Palm Post Beaming Stations at Pacific Bell Park.)
"SF Interactive is an agency of firsts, said Bruce Carlise, President and CEO of SF Interactive. "We are looking to be one of the first agencies to develop customized handheld content to be beamed directly into the hands of end users."
"Starcom is always eager to provide new innovative ways to extend a brand message through emerging media," said Tim Hanlon, Vice President, Director of Emerging Contacts at Starcom Worldwide. "The WideRay technology offers a robust platform, with an effective technology to deliver a marketing message to the handheld market."
