Fleet, Hampshire, Oct 11, 2001 -- SignalSoft Corp. (Nasdaq: SGSF), the developer of the Wireless Location Services software suite, today announced that VoiceStream Wireless Corp., a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom and the largest Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) mobile operator in the United States, has licensed SignalSoft`s Gateway Mobile Location Center (GMLC) product, called Location Centre, as well as its W911 product for its GSM network. The agreement will help VoiceStream comply with the Federal Communications Commission`s Phase II mandate for Enhanced 911 (E911,) and enable VoiceStream to protect its mobile subscribers by providing emergency location-based services. This is the third announced United States mobile operator that has selected SignalSoft`s proven software and services to meet the FCC`s Phase II E911 mandate.

On October 1, 2001, VoiceStream filed its Semi-Annual E911 Report with the Federal Communications Commission. In this filing, VoiceStream identifies its vendors and timeframes to comply with the FCC`s mandate using the Enhanced Observed Time Difference (E-OTD) technology with initial accuracy levels of better than 100 meters/67 percent of the time and 300 meters/95 percent of the time.

"VoiceStream`s decision to use SignalSoft`s products to provide key functions of its emergency location-based functionality illustrates the demand for these products in the United States and the move to comply with the Phase II E911 mandate," said David Hose, President and CEO of SignalSoft. "We are pleased to see the leading U.S. GSM mobile operator select SignalSoft`s proven software and are working diligently to support VoiceStream`s deployment efforts. These types of systems will make all of our lives safer."
