URL(s): www.chapmantech.com
BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 16, 2001--Chapman Technologies, Inc. is developing Global
Positioning Service (GPS) location-specific features and functionality designed to work with Ericsson's new T60c mobile
handsets for CDMA2000 1X networks, now part of the Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications' product portfolio. The GPS
location provisioning will be incorporated into one of the detachable Smartback(TM) accessories available exclusively for
Ericsson products. The Chapman Safeguard Companion(R) GPS Enhancer will enable value-added services on the T60c
Ericsson mobile phone.
Ericsson has provided design and compatibility input to Chapman. The Chapman Engineering department will be responsible
for the design, development and manufacturing of the Safeguard Companion(R) GPS Enhancers.
Chapman has developed a proprietary end-to-end analog solution for the simultaneous transfer of voice and
location-specific data. As part of this project, Chapman is developing the same solution for CDMA Digital wireless networks.
Chapman will purchase and market the Ericsson T60c handsets with the Safeguard Companion(R) GPS Enhancer
throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America with a focus on value-added personal security, 911 emergency and
telematics markets. Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications will purchase Safeguard Companion(R) GPS Enhancers as an
accessory and market them through its existing handset distribution channels. Chapman Command Center (C3) will provide all
Safeguard Companion(R) GPS Enhancer subscribers with 911-trained emergency monitoring (24x365), roadside assistance
and location-based concierge services.
Chapman Safeguard Companion(R) GPS Enhancer will be available in Q4 2001 in conjunction with the market introduction
of the T60c.
