YAKARA PLC TO LAUNCH 'TXTM8S' ON 23RDFLOOR.COM

URL(s): www.23rdfloor.com

Edinburgh, UK (10 September, 2001) - 23rdfloor.com is to deploy Yakara's patent- pending mobile community technology, m-groups. 23rd Floor is a web site developed by Airside and BT Cellnet. The deal was finalised on 24th August and services are expected to be live and available to BT Cellnet customers via 23rdfloor.com before Christmas.

The m-groups friends package will be branded as 'txtm8s' on the 23rd floor portal which is primarily aimed at the youth market. txtm8s users will be able to create private communities with their friends where they can vote, chat, share logos and ring tones and play games.

m-groups is a reliable, scalable product that generates revenue for network operators on existing networks – a key business requirement for addressing the costs incurred by the purchase of 3G licenses.

The deal highlights the growth in demand for 'community' and 'lifestyle' services within the mobile Internet market, as Wireless Operators strive to differentiate by turning to new and more compelling services. The mobile Internet market is predicted to be worth $205bn by 2005.

Yakara was established in 1995 to create software products for the telecommunications industry. Yakara headquarters are in Edinburgh, United Kingdom and customers include some of the worlds leading telecommunication infrastructure manufacturers and network operators. The company is accredited with the ISO 9001 TickIT standard for quality management systems. Our core product is m-groups, a location-based group messaging service which enables mobile subscribers to easily communicate with groups of people for business or leisure purposes. m-groups is an application for GSM and 3G networks, and can interface to Network Operators' existing infrastructure providing an integrated and scalable solution.

Yakara also offers a comprehensive portfolio of services for the telecoms market from strategic consultancy and proprietary technology to systems integration, solutions delivery, testing and commissioning. Yakara-built systems process millions of calls every day all around the world. www.yakara.com

Airside is a design company first and foremost. The Airside team think a lot about experiences and feel strongly that interaction is not something to be found exclusively on a computer screen. Consequently they tend to work with a wide range of media and have many self initiated projects running alongside their client work. They like to collaborate and enjoy getting inside people's heads. Most importantly they try to have a laugh, because that's the point of it all really!

Recent Airside clients include: MTV, Channel 4, BBC Radio Three, BT Cellnet, Nadav Kander, Lemon Jelly, John Paul Jones, Paul Oakenfold, The Serpentine Gallery and the White Cube Gallery. www.airside.co.uk
