Cysive Introduces Multi-Channel Enterprise Platform Cysive Cymbio™

URL(s): www.cysive.com

Reston, Va.-October 15, 2001-Cysive, Inc., (Nasdaq: CYSV), a multi-channel software solutions builder, today announced the availability of Cysive Cymbio, a multi-channel enterprise platform that will allow business enterprises to communicate with customers, employees and other audiences through multiple channels, including Web, wireless and voice-activated systems and with Web services. This multi-channel, enterprise-class product eliminates the need to deploy multiple systems for the delivery of content to disparate channels or devices. As a result, Cysive Cymbio renders a customer's system more efficient while dramatically reducing the costs of system changes or the addition of channels in the future.

Without Cysive Cymbio, companies face a daunting task when attempting to extend access to enterprise data through new channels, such as to wireless devices or through Web services. Each channel requires the deployment of a separate system to handle the unique content delivery and rendering. With Cysive Cymbio, companies no longer need separate systems for each channel. In addition, the Cysive Cymbio platform provides the framework for the addition of future channels.

"Companies today are using devices and technologies that did not exist five years ago to reach their customers, employees, partners and investors," said Nelson Carbonell, president & chief executive officer of Cysive. "The challenge for IT is to build systems that can port to all these new devices or channels. Cysive Cymbio is the solution. It's like an IT insurance policy that provides the means to accommodate today's communications channels and those that may be available in the future."

Based on Cysive's experience building enterprise systems for the past seven years, Cysive Cymbio is an open-standards platform that provides a pre-packaged set of functionality to enable multi-channel delivery:

Device & Channel Detection and Content Rendering: Cysive Cymbio identifies the device or channel making a request and can automatically deliver data catered to each channel. Cysive Cymbio recognizes key device attributes, like number of display lines, characters per line and bandwidth restrictions. For example, in the case of a hand-held device, Cymbio will deliver the data in a way that can be read on the smaller screen.

Universal Session Management: Cysive Cymbio's unique universal session management capability, called "FollowMe," allows users to transfer a session from one device to another. For example, a worker entering a timesheet can start the form from a PC using a Web browser and can complete it from a wireless device or through a voice-activated system. All session information is retained, enabling users to pick up exactly where they left off.

Data Synchronization: Functionality in Cysive Cymbio detects the newest information entered into a system and discriminates against other channels. When a handheld device is synched, for example, the product can detect if the information in the handheld or on the system is more current.

Authentication: Cysive Cymbio implements JAAS security for authentication and assignment of permissions. For instance, a manager can authenticate an employee's time sheet using a mobile device.

Security: Among other functionality, Cysive Cymbio enables business applications to accept electronic signatures.

Workflow & Rules Engines: Cysive Cymbio contains powerful engines for building and executing applications on top of enterprise data systems.

Integration: Cysive Cymbio provides seamless integration to the leading EAI (enterprise application integration) solutions allowing enterprises to leverage existing investments. In addition, the product enables integration outside the firewall and can prioritize B2B transactions as a separate channel into the enterprise.

Standards Based: Cysive Cymbio uses widely supported technologies and open standards, including XML, Java, J2EE, HTTP, WML and others, to ensure seamless interoperability between any type of channel access (Web, wireless or voice), database and application.

"For a complete enterprise solution that can handle data delivery through multiple channels, the solution must be open-standards and must be extensible to handle future changes in technology and business requirements," said Gene Willingham, vice president of product solutions at Cysive. "A company cannot be tied to a particular standard or technology approach. This closes the door to the future. Cysive Cymbio relies on open, published standards, ensuring that no doors or options are closed by its adoption."

Cysive Cymbio's extensibility allows for the use of other products or technologies that might offer additional functionality specific to the business and technology needs at hand.

To provide an example of a typical Cysive Cymbio deployment, a corporation could write an order processing application which customers could access from a telephone, voice recognition system, wireless PDA device or Web browser. A business partner might also wish to access that order processing data. Cysive Cymbio provides for the application to be written once and have the data accessed from all of these channels.

Cysive Cymbio is available immediately via a licensing agreement. For more information call (800) 996-2582.
