VoiceGenie Announces Windows XP-Compatible VoiceXML Personal Gateway
URL(s): www.voicegenie.com
TORONTO, CANADA. October 29, 2001 -VoiceGenie Technologies Inc., the leading
provider of complete VoiceXML Gateway solutions, announces MyVoiceGenie, the
first PC-based software designed for the Windows XP Operating System that
allows users to run VoiceXML applications on their desktop computers --
without a telephone. Coupled with VoiceGenie's Genie IDE, the rich
development environment for developing, managing and deploying VoiceXML
applications, MyVoiceGenie is the easiest and fastest solution for
developing VoiceXML applications.
"Until today, VoiceXML developers had to create their applications on their
PCs, then test them by dialing into a network-based server to execute their
scripts," said Stuart Berkowitz, VoiceGenie President & CEO. "Now, with
MyVoiceGenie, developers are able to download the VoiceXML Software Stack to
their PCs, with the freely available speech- and text-to-speech engines
embedded in Windows XP, so that all application development and execution
can be done on that PC."
Continued Berkowitz, "With the rich control offered by MyVoiceGenie,
thousands of VoiceXML developers, who specialize in building auditory-only
VoiceXML applications, will be free to create innovative applications
running off a common Windows XP platform."
MyVoiceGenie is the complete VoiceXML platform with ASR (automatic speech
recognition) and TTS (text-to-speech) provided by the Microsoft SAPI 5.1
software. The new software provides the ability to validate VoiceXML
applications prior to execution, the ability to run remote and local files,
and includes complete support for VoiceXML. The 0.9 beta version of
MyVoiceGenie allows developers to avoid the costs associated with ASR and
TTS, through the software's compatibility with Microsoft's free ASR and TTS
that come installed with Windows XP. Additional features also include:
* Genie Call Blending, allowing developers to control speech (signal
processing) and telephony resources, initiate outbound calls, and more
* Audio Offset Feature, for better manipulation of audio file playback
* Saved Utterance feature, for saving caller utterances in audio files and
making them available to the VoiceXML application
The beta release of MyVoiceGenie is available today on a free trial basis at
