Nazomi and WavePlus Align to Boost Java Performance in Internet Appliances


SANTA CLARA, Calif. & TAIPEI, Taiwan, Nov. 5, 2001-- WavePlus Selects Nazomi's JSTAR(TM) Java Coprocessor for the development of Java-enhanced System On Chip Solutions

Nazomi Communications Inc., the inventor of universal and scalable Java coprocessor solutions for boosting the performance of software running on the Java Platform, and WavePlus Technology Co., Ltd., a leading designer and provider of wireless and networking system components, today announced they are working together to boost the performance of Internet Appliances. To accomplish this, Nazomi's JSTAR(TM) Java coprocessor technology will be integrated into WavePlus' new system on chip (SoC) solutions for Internet appliances and mobile devices. WavePlus' new chips will operate in mobile handheld devices, personal digital assistances (PDAs), ebooks and web pads. Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"For wireless applications to succeed in today's marketplace, the performance of Java software on Internet appliances and mobile devices must be accelerated," noted Mukesh Patel, president and CEO of Nazomi. "As WavePlus is leveraging our JSTAR Java coprocessor technology in its upcoming SoCs for mobile handheld devices, personal digital assistances (PDAs), ebooks and web pads, it is clear that Nazomi offers a winning solution. In addition, this agreement demonstrates that companies worldwide are embracing Nazomi and its technology."
