Novatel Wireless and Wireless WebConnect! Partner to Offer Merlin for Ricochet

SAN DIEGO--Feb. 7, 2001--Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL), a provider of wireless data communications access solutions, and Wireless WebConnect!, Inc. (www.wwc.com), a nationwide high speed mobile wireless Internet services provider, announce the availability of the Merlin(TM) Wireless PC Card Modem for Ricochet(R) 128 kbps with Wireless WebConnect! mobile wireless Internet service. The Merlin for Ricochet is a Type II PC Card that takes advantage of the Ricochet network to provide mobile wireless data access at end-user speeds of 128 kbps and up.

Wireless WebConnect! will distribute the modems via their multi-faceted sales channels, including direct, ebusiness, retail and call center sales. The Merlin Wireless PC Card Modem will sell for $299. Service plans start at $74.95 per month with prepayment discounts available. A $30 activation fee may apply.

The Merlin for Ricochet connects to Metricom's (Nasdaq:MCOM) high-speed Ricochet network, which offers mobile wireless access to the Internet, corporate intranets, local area networks, email and other online services. The modem has a robust removable antenna enabling maximum network connectivity with the highest mobile wireless data throughput available. The Merlin for Ricochet has a Type II PC Card interface, is compatible with Windows(R) 98/NT/CE/2000/2000ME/Pocket PC and Macintosh(R) laptops.
